Ah he's a ride its cool to admit it

Trent and Robertson too have realy added tohow we attack.

Trents crossing was a bit wayward yesterday but he can really whip a ball in and love how he looks for that early whipped ball for players to run onto around the six yard box, just in the right zone for a keeper to be hesitsnt to come collect and if a team, like west ham were, try to play a line from the edge of our box iy can be very dangerous as if any of our players break the trap they've a free pop at goal from six yards out, reckon we will see lots of goals from this across the season.

And Robertson is a very intelligent player, times his runs well and gets the head up before picking a pass.

The defence has steadily been improving ever since Klopp arrived. Last season was the first time since Rafa we conceded less thab 40 goals in the league and that was despite having a dodgy start to the season.

Would love it if we can concede 30 or less this season.

I feel I am alone in thinking that VvD, good player though he is, isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread? Maybe it's the dead albatross price hanging round his and the necks of others whose costs were stratospheric. He makes mistakes, he's only human, same as Alisson, whose punch yesterday to clear the ball gave me palpitations, maybe is because of what they cost that we, subconsciously, zero in on any perceived error.

I need to get out more often.

When I think about how good at football he is, how big, powerful and dominant he is., yet so composed and masterful, with the bility to motivate and take the lead, then your probably right.

If VVD wanted to bend me over, how could I possibly refuse.

I think you have a lack of understanding football.

Thought you were pretty poor defensively at the weekend - especially considering how disjointed WHU looked yet still had 3/4 reasonable chances.

It is the first game of the season though, so can't really take much from that.

No you have a point Jimmy he can and will make mistakes. He's got away with a few since we signed him where he's gone walk about and left space or has stood off his man too long allowing a pass or shot away.

But every player will make a mistake, as long as they're seldom and more go unpunished than punished we'll be ok.

There were some rusty moments for sure. I do think sometimes people fprget that tje oposition will create chances though.

West Ham have some decent players so they will create chances.

Also if a good side can pass around the press then they wil carve us open, this is going to happen to us and if we concede from it it will look terrible from our point of view.

They had one genuine chance, the one missed by Antonio. Plus a couple of half chances.

Against a Premier League team this represents a dominant display, both offensively and defensively

If NCU had quality finishers your lot would have lost.

The Magpies are an average team.

The improvement has been steady and Big V has been a big part of that but don't discount what an improvement has been made in the full back positions.

The season before last, teams were finding huge amounts of space behind our fullbacks. Then in the first half of last season there was a gaping hole in the centre of our defence.

We've restricted the midfield a bit and now we look much better defensively. This is also helped by Salah & Mane being able to finish chances so we don't actually need 3-5 clear chances to score one goal anymore.

VVD played a good game and was not a fault for their chance for Arno. It was Gomez his fault.

Some of the standards in here could only be met by Mourinho’s first Chelsea side & Saachi/Capello’s Milan!

After reading this article, which is about an attacking team btw....I despair at the mindset of anyone complaining/criticising!

I understand that, but this was one of those performances where the opposition were so atrociously bad and disjointed that it is surprising that they created as much as they did. Again there isn't much to take from it, opening few games of the season aren't about performances and are all about the results.

What is your problem? It was an observation on how poor Spurs were against an average side.

posted on 13/8/18

that was also mentioned on sky while the game was on, like you say not bad for a side with dodgy defence

played well yesterday without getting out of second gear, saying that the hammers were really poor.

Why bang on about Spurs?

Edin gave his opinion on us, that was all, you're trying to turn it into a us v them thing like every fecking article on this board.

Talk about the reds then you're grand

In addition to big V, Robertson getting the gig over Moreno has also helped. So good not having a left back who commits suicide and it took Klopp a while last season the trust Robbo.

Teams will always get chances against us because of the attacking style we play, Milner was up proving chances from the byline.

He was playing the holding role in midfield.

Van Dijk has been immense for us, last season he came in to a defence that was conceding goals from everywhere.

A defence that had one of the worst keepers about.

If you listen to many on here, one of the worst partners about in Lovren.

A pair of fullback, 1 playing his first full season of football and the other was stacking shelves in Tesco 5 years ago.

Yet he’s still not given the credit as one of the best about.
