Who says I am offended? Very EDL comment of you though, never really seen you before on this website but happy to know that you fit in well in the 'racist c*nt' box
-----------
im sure my brown face will fit in quite well at a edl rally you complete mess of a poster

Lack of intelligence as well as self awareness I see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He says he has a brown face and then you refer to a lack of intelligence.

Now that can certainly be perceived as racist

Racism my backside. 2 goals in 43 caps is simply pathetic for someone with the ability he has.

He's a poor player when not surrounded by top quality players clearly.

Any links to an article about Kane having breakfast the day after the PFA awards?

I remember those disparaging reports of Henderson shopping at TK Maxx. Oh wait...

what?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just find it a bizarre way of looking at things. 'Why isn't it racism'

Well because the articles in question are not about his ethnic origins, nor are they articles which would only be written about a young black player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well why is he targeted to an extent that no other player has been before him?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, this presupposes that it is actually true that he has been unfairly targeted to an extent that no player has been before. Others have offered Beckham or Rooney as alternative examples. I agree Sterling has gotten a really rough ride of things for some very unremarkable actions. But I don’t know if I can actually say for sure that he has been targeted more than any other player has been before. It’s also important to consider that in 2018, we have more news saturation than ever before and with internet punditry the lowest common denominator sinks ever lower, so to some extent Sterling may be a victim of the age.

So, why is Sterling getting treated like crap? Well, maybe it is because of his race. Or maybe it is ‘partly’, which is a bit more of a subtle argument than the absolutes which have been spoken in. To say that definitively is where I switched off and turned to poor satire. The evidence simply isn’t there. It’s a logical leap which I may have been a bit disrespectful to, as my logical leap is a bit tactless when discussing racism. It’s not really directly comparable. But I digress.

Other possible contributing factors to be considered…

-Class discrimination. Sterling has come from nothing and to some quarters his behavior is unappealing. The Poundland story and the flying economy story are good examples of this.
-Inflammatory move from Liverpool to Manchester City.
-Despite being found not guilty of common assault, the court of public opinion is harsh.

I think as well that once the ball gets rolling on this stuff, it’s self perpetuating. Sterling has become a go-to trash clickbait name to throw a mean story up around a picture of, for both ‘journalist’ and consumer.

Okay back to lazy comments forever now

I don’t think it’s inconceivable that the right wing gutter press would target non white players more so than others. The difference with the likes of Terry etc is, as has been mentioned, Sterling is dogged for pretty unremarkable actions.

Sterling is the only foreign born England player isn’t he?

Sterling is the only England player whose name is the same as our currency

I think there’s an element of racism to it, I agree with him.

The fact he gets more criticism than Joey Barton ever got tells me there's a racist element.

I think that Sterling is disliked by a lot of people for a lot of different reasons, as are many players. The fact that Ian Wright focuses on the "race" issue might also be construed as racism on his part?

Para 1 - pathetic for someone of his ability

Para 2 - he’s a poor player

Wrighty talking utter bollox as per usual. All this play the race victim card is all too often trotted out. Sterling was criticised for missing too many easy chances and nowt else, should we now be forced to praise players with certian skin tones even when they have just played like shiyte ?

skin colour or being unlikable? I think 99% of the time it's the latter.
