Why not?

It's been done to death and it's a very touchy subject.

How has it been done to death? The story has only just been published. Yes it is a touchy subject, but it shouldn't be swept under the carpet. These people deserve justice and it looks like one of those at least partially responsible for the smear campaign against LFC supporters has got away with it.

If it doesn't interest you then just ignore the thread.

the reaction on twitter shows that once people make up their mind on an isssue they dont care for justice, they want what they want, in this case a conviction.

If Twitter is your go to for the true discourse then you're not going to find anything of value.

He's hardly "got away with it." This suggests a lack of sufficient evidence for a conviction:

"Prosecutors said insufficient evidence meant there was no real prospect of securing a conviction.

The Crown Prosecution Service said because of changes in the evidence of two witnesses, and the death of a third, it would discontinue the case."

Our courts can't go convicting people on a whim without evidence. That's not justice and justice works both ways, not just in the favour of those who feel the most aggrieved or shout the loudest.

Unsafe convictions lead to dangerous precedents and miscarriages of justice further down the line.

Good way of gauging public opinion on it however.

I disagree. Most people on Twitter are tribal. Simply not supporting Liverpool would cause many to back those partly responsible.

Lack of evidence doesn't mean he is innocent. Could be that he is guilty but they just cannot prove it. If a key witness dies, then the evidence is gone.

Doesn't mean he is guilty either and we presume innocence, not guilt.

Yes, this is true, however you cant convict someone without evidence. fundamental of the justice system.

Of course - but this can mean people can hypothetically get away with it.

They're not mutually exclusive statements.

Very hard to prove what he was accused of, he gave an account, only he will know whether or not he was being honest or telling the truth.

Absolutely spot on and seems to be forgotten about in the new world of social media justice.

Not really. The accusations were clear. It was the evidence to support it that was hard to prove.

Wrong - differentiate between accusation and evidence

and remember, it is the 'evidence' of two other witnesses that have done the damage here.

It's already been shown that NBs position changed.
