Flashy fair enough. But alonso was not given jailtime. So why can't we just move on rather than use it as a stick to beat opposition fans with?
Same as I wouldn't go on a spurs thread slagging off how they support drink drivers

Mate the fact that someone died make such a difference.
An attempted robbery and an actual robbery aren't too different as the solution to fix the crime is relatively the same.
A murder and an attempted murder are hugely different - hence why they are seen as such in a court of law.

----------------------------------------------------
Tell that to someone whose been burgled and lost all treasured items in their household and never gets them back.
Not as extreme as murder of course. But either way i'm not disagreeing that both should be punished. My original query was that if alonso should not be allowed to play footy, then surely lloris shouldn't be either. Both made the same mistake. Luckily both didn't end in tragedy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean, professional law-makers etc distinguish a clear difference between them both. One is, undoubtedly, substantially worse than the other.
Also drink driving is way too subjective a blanket term. The drink-drive limit for most adult males is 4 units. If he had 4.5 units (a quarter of a pint over) should he get jail time?
He wasn't given jailtime cos he paid off the family to escape his punishment.
True edin. Just don't see the need of people to make comments on someones death everytime alonso grabs a goal which I been seeing all week.
I saw a good comment on the other thread that people just shouldn't drink and drive at all, everyone's tolerance is different.

The family settled. Again god knows how he got out of it though. Just don't see the need in slagging chelsea or it's fans off for something that happened in 2011. Did you do the same to bolton fans?
If Tottenham don't strip Hugo of his captaincy for this, I'll be hugely surprised and disappointed.
Chelsea gave Alonso a contract.

Ultimately I want it to point score and get in Alonso's head like at the Bridge last year. Seemed to do the trick.

I've missed no point. Vava was basically trivialising the crime by literally putting it on a level with Firmino and Flanagan slapping his missus. As such I felt it prevalent to highlight that it's nowhere near the same level as it's something I'm passionate about.
Try this for conceited though. I genuinely think I operate on a higher level to you both cognitively and clinically and the reason you get upset with me is because you simply are not able to understand.
Have a nice day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i wasnt trivialising anything i was just pointing out as did nick. He has been labelled a murderer when in fact although he did a forking stupid thing he had no intention of killing anybody it was an accident and he compenasated the family for it. some people never get a penny drunks without insurance etc. as nick i think it was pointed out if hed shot and killed someone that was murder if he shot and was so lousy a shot he didnt kill would that make his attemted crime less punishable. Firminho drunk drove and got lucky and only hit a lamp post. fans here are using Alonsos screw up to cheaply win points against Chelsea but it just shows themm for what they are. As for Dudley do good the nurse koodos on the job but hero syndrome is also a bad tasting thing. Real nurses dont expect gratification for hat they do they just get on with it.

He cant undo what happened he paid restitution over and above what the family will recieve from the insurance payout. He didnt deliberately kill the person as if so then yes he should be in jail…..accidents happen should he be jailed for the same incident had he been sober.

That ain't right.
Alonso shouldn't be playing football cos he should be in prison serving his sentence.
————————————————-
Tbf he would’ve been out of prison by now if he served his sentence.
Well this turned into a bot of a petty t1t for tat argument didn't it.
Both players are guilty of the same crime. The only difference is one, through circumstances got unlucky, while the other through good luck came out relatively unscathed.
Philosophically you can argue it is the same crime though that is down to opinion, legally it isn’t, unless you’re arguing for law to be changed..
Also both philosophically and legally Alonso brought another passenger into the car while three times over the limit and was also speeding..so not quite the same.
Brummie.......how dare you use common sense !
No incorrect, why do you have to put your own spin on it?
Both were guilty of DD and as far as I know there is no law that states you cannot take or that prevents another person getting into your car because you've been drinking - ill-advised maybe but not illegal.
Both have been equally idiotic.
What amazes me is that both could afford taxi fares from lands end to John O'Groats, so why on earth would you risk the consequences of a DD charge if you were going out knowing you were going to have a drink?
Absolute madness!
You’re aware the passenger Alonso took was killed aren’t you? Sorry just asking as it seems you may not know, that’s the major reason they’re different crimes

What do you take me for? Of course I know.
The accident may or may not have happened, and the passenger may or not have died anyway even if Alonso hadn't been drinking, that we will never know.
Loris thankfully did not become involved in an accident following his indiscretion. Had an old lady walking a dog walked out in front of him he may have found himself in a lot more bother than he's currently in.
The bottom line is, they both drank alcohol and yet still turned their keys in the ignition.
Sorry you only just found out on this thread so wasn’t sure if you got the full story. But the fact he killed someone, by accident, but still as a result of his actions, means it’s a manslaughter and he was charged as such, so a different crime to Lloris. You could argue ethically/philosophically they’re the same, but that’s a subjective arguement if you get me..imo for me Alonso is still worse for speeding and taking a passenger with him.
Legally they’re completely different crimes and so can be discussed and compared differently and also hence punishment is different, right? There’s more to the fact that they both drunk drove, it doesn’t end there.
Also as a quick point to you other post, although not outright illegal the fact you take passengers with you while DD would make the outcome worse in a court of law. Take 5 passengers with you vs driving by yourself..there’s more lives at risk.

Is there a law governing the taking of people in a car, if your over the DD limit, or the number of people you're allowed to take in you're car?
It's a simple yes or no answer, no ethically/philosophically or any other components to the question.
