Interesting that Kane doesn't make the top 20 strikers in the premier league last season in terms of shots/goals ratio (discounting pens) :

How can an all time great striker, not make the top 20 strikers in the league in any one season in terms of scoring goals from chances ?

No offence intended, but judging by this post and your previous one claiming that Kane isn't as good as Berbatov was, you know next to nothing about football. Your opinions are that poor

I've copied the list out from fourfourtwo's statistics.
it's not my opinion, it's fact.
berbatov being more technically able than kane is very very much my opinion though, you are right on that
Will likely be a waste of time but to dispute your points specifically
'he's not in the same league as Berbatov in terms of technical ability.'
So what? Does that make Berbatov better than Shearer? Adel Taarabt was more 'technical' than Dele. It's not everything
'Stick a young jermaine defoe in the side spurs have had the last few years, and he'd probably have as many goals'
Complete and utter nonsense. Defoe couldn't get into a Spurs team ahead of Berbatov and Keane. Kane would have walked into that team blindfolded, because he's far too good to not play. Your assessment of players is really bad
'How can an all time great striker, not make the top 20 strikers in the league in any one season in terms of scoring goals from chances ?'
Anybody who uses conversion rate as the sole barometer to judge strikers is clueless. You must think Cristiano Ronaldo is a poor attacker. It is the ability to both be on the end of, and create your own, shooting opportunities that mostly defines a striker in terms of goalscoring. The more good shots a striker takes, the better he tends to be

would he be a better striker than he is if he scored more goals per opportunity ?
Yes, that applies to every single player
However, it's very simple minded to criticise Kane for his conversion rate. I suggest you educate yourself on expected goals (xG). This will make it clear to you why Kane is an elite striker
Someone like Lacazette or Gabriel Jesus might score more per shot they take. But they won't take anywhere near as many shots. It's a skill to get off shots, especially ones from good positions

if where he is taking his shots from is better positions than other strikers are taking their shots from, why does he score less goals per shot than so many other strikers (and non strikers) ?
No, that's not what I said
The shots he takes aren't necessarily from better positions. But he has a higher volume of shots in general, and therefore a portion of those will be from good positions. Hence why he, y'now, scores more than these other strikers you seem to love
Kane's conversion rate is also impacted by taking shots from distance, something a lot of others strikers don't do. When it comes to converting big chances, Kane is no worse than these other guys. He rarely misses sitters

I would suggest though, that another factor in why Harry gets so many shots off, is that he plays for a TEAM that creates a large number of scoring opportunities.
Yes, I agree with you that he is excellent at getting in front of the defender etc, which is part of why I say he is a good / very good striker.
The relatively poor conversion rate though is to me one of the reasons why he isn't a GREAT striker, and why I rate him lower than the other 4 players mentioned.
I agree he will score more goals than berbatov. mainly because he works harder, and because of that skill he's got to get ahead of the defender. he's not as skilful a ball player though. I would rather watch berbatov all day long, and if it came down to it, i'd rather have him in my team if I had the choice.
I just think that Kane is not the undroppable superstar that everyone seems to think. like all good strikers he goes through patches, but he's still a very good striker, who when on form is extremely effective and who can create the odd moment of brilliance (eg the goal he made from nothing at Stamford Bridge a few seasons ago). Ideally though Spurs should have another top class striker for him to complete against.
And as for discussing him in the same breath as the likes of Greaves, I think it's inappropriate. He's a good player, who has had 3 very successful seasons as a key part of a very good side. I am just of the view that there are other strikers around who could do just as well, and that the same could be said for other of Tottenham's leading goal scorers of the past.
We'll agree to disagree. I'm not going to change your mind. All I'll say is that you obviously don't rate Cristiano Ronaldo as a great goal scorer either, using your logic
