I loved Another World on the Amiga. Bizarre to think it's >25 years ago!

I know Yankari, a classic in it's day. Played through it numerous times on my old Amiga,

Only us oldies will appreciate it now.

True Amiga, and I think it takes having played Arcadia, Jupiter Lander and Blitz on the Vic20 or C64 to get a real appreciation for modern games. They're (mostly) stunning

Is AW the one like that other game called Flashback (I think)? Very distinctive style though the gameplay was very precise.

That is my favourite game of that generation I think and the "sequel" to Another World. Remember having another world on my SNES and Flashback on the Mega drive. When ever I download an emulator Flashback is my first megadrive ROM

Are you a yank Mr A? Amiga or the Commodore Amiga to give it it's fall name was a home computer from the late 80s to early 90s and the disk based sequel to the successful Commodore 64 of the 80s. Direct competitor of the Atari ST and one of the best gaming platforms found at the time, the most famous models are the Amiga 500, 600 and 1200. Well yeh that's all I've got.

What’s an Amiga...?

Seems almost blasphemous to have to ask

Not sure how many realise this, But the series Babylon 5 was originally created using the Amiga computer (and something called the video toaster)

It was the first show to do this and paved the way for the CGI we all know today.

The Amiga really was ahead of it's time

The earliest memory I have is FA Cup Football on the C64

Basically you loaded it up, it drew teams out, I think you got to pick formations and then it told you the scores.

That was it.

I loved it

I used to play the Kick Off games religiously on the Amiga. Used to love Super Skidmarks too.

Ah my bad - sorry for calling you a yank then, babies or Americans are the ones who generally haven't heard of Amigas

But yeh a home computer for us old folk

posted on 30/8/18

A Computer ahead of it's time, using a custom chip set designed bu a very talented engineer called Jay Miner.

It was a huge leap over what was available at the time, not just for gaming, but also music and found it's niche in video editing.

The first program I bought was Deluxe Paint, manipulating images in a way unknown in it's day, and really showed a home computer could be much more than just spreadsheets and word processing.

It led the way to the computers we know today.

Anybody recall Echo The Dolphin on the Mega Drive?
The second level was impossible. You had to get Echo over a load of rocks in the sea fack how I tried and tried
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I downloaded Echo recently and it's the most depressing game I've ever played, honestly it's bizarre how melancholy the whole experience is yet when I was a kid my thought process was "cool, a dolphin".

Try it now and see how it makes you feel, the music is a big part.
