Booking for Bardsley and Rashford for me - I think people have forgotten what violent conduct really means.
Referee very average and the Rashford incident showed how the crowd influenced him.

Yeah I agree that Rash should've been a yellow but if he's showing Rashford a red then Bardsley should've been sent off as well. Awful decision-making or subconscious bias, i cannot tell.

Only saw some of the first half but didn't see too much wrong. Very poor referee amongst a host if others in the country. They really could have been doing with VAR, rather than lagging behind every other major league.

All of these calls were in the second half, tbf.
Yeah, completely agree about VAR.
Generally the standard of refereeing in this country is excellent imo.

Really? When I watch Italian and Spanish games there's barely any controversy around decisions. There seems to be something controversial from referees every week in England. No English referees at the World Cup, means others disagree with you there also. I do accept that it's perhaps more difficult to referee in England where the game is quicker but even still there seems a huge gulf in quality to me.
Having watched much of the World Cup, there is no doubt in my mind that English referees are of a high standard.
The cheating, the fans who don’t know the rules, the speed of the game, the media... referees do an excellent job in impossible circumstances.

I thought the World Cup was referreed very well, especially considering a lot of teams there were very clever in the 'dark arts', no doubt aided by VAR of course.
VAR was great in some cases but in others showed just how bad some referees are.
It always amazes me how much stick we give referees, yet forget that virtually every challenge now involved a player exaggerating contact or contesting a decision knowing it’s not theirs.
I do agree referees have an impossible task and get a lot of unfair criticism but I do also believe the standard has dropped in the last few years. The likes of Clattenburg amd Webb were criticised a lot but they were a much higher standard than any of the referees today. Hence being chosen by UEFA and FIFA for big games. Of course they made mistakes, referees are only human but less compared to those today. The worst one from Webb in the World Cup when De Jong nearly penetrated Alonso's chest with his boot.
I disagree, but I’m sure I’m wrong when applied to the criteria you’re using.
Was suprising to see Rashford behave in that way, uncharacteristic. An incredibly talented individual, will be a one off.

Why only a booking for Bardsley? A kick at Rashfords legs, nowhere near the ball? That's a red in my books.

Excessive force of brutality are the words in the law,
I believe.
Kicking someone is not an automatic red.
I fail to see how anyone can watch that incident and conclude anything other than two yellows to be honest, particularly when you read the actual law.

Just to be more clear on my view I’m taking, is that if Rashford got send off, what Bardsley done was worse so he should’ve received the same punishment. In realistic terms, two yellows would’ve been correct.

If rashford was a red then so was Bardsley for the kick
Ben Mee should have been sent off twice. Absolute joke
Has this ref got an agenda?
The majority of refs are bent imo
I am completely with Winston on this. The refs, in general, are excellent, the cheating of the players abysmal.
