Keep De Gea. Would say Pogba too but I'm not sure he wants to be here himself. I guess given the choice I'd like Martial and Rashford to stay.
Everyone else goes into one of the other 2 categories.

Don't think there's any doubt in the world he won't be our manager next season. After finishing 2nd by 19pts we expect to progress and close the gap a little to City. If anything we're probably going to fall further from the top. There's no way he's surviving.
Players Utd need to build the team around IMO...

Imagine you signed Menuier, Alderweireld, Thiago & Bailey. 4 signings that bring Utd up a level or 2 instantly.
We were in a similar position in 2016, if you find a manager who sets a system to get the very best out of what you have that's half the battle won almost immediately.

None of our other centre backs have shown enough to fill the slot beside Bailly and it is clear that Jose doesn't think Axel or TFM are up to it.
Matic is not good enough, has never been at a level in his career for what we need there and at his age will only get worse.
I've Pereira in there because he has a range of passing and desire/comfort in receiving the ball that I don't see in anyone else. Fred isn't an upgrade on Herrera.
As for Lukaku, he would only start for Chelsea out of last season's Top 6.

Make a convincing case for any of the players in the bottom list to stay then. Willing to hear it and be proved wrong.
Would not mind seeing Lukaku walk. Just don't feel it. Fred smells like a bust.
Tuanzebe is brilliant and could be a 10 year pro in midfield/sweeper role.
That being said opinions on Lingard and Herrera would change so quickly if we got a more attacking manager. Tbh that is true for most players on this team.

Changing manager will make a massive difference in the performance levels of the players you've deemed surplus to requirements... you'd hope so anyway, or you have to question who really is the problem.
I can't help but feel that a different manager, be it a Zidane, Giggs, SAF or even a Howe would be able to get more out of the players, especially Martial, Pogba, etc, etc
Very similar situation where I feel you’d be better off getting rid of some key players. Mourinho kept starting Fabregas and Ivanovic in his last season. Ivsnovic was so far over the hill, and Fabregas couldn’t start games.
You will notice an improvement once you get rid of Matic, Valencia, young and a few others. Not to say they are all bad(Matic is) but there time is up.
The non United fan's perspective.
Keep - De Gea, Romero, Shaw, Bailly, Smalling, Dalot, Fred, Martial, Lingard, Lukaku, Rashford (11)
Move on - Young, Jones, Rojo, Darmian, Valencia, Pogba, Matic, Fellaini, Herrera, Sanchez, Mata, (11)
Jury's out - Grant, McTominay, Pereira, Fosu-Mesah, Tuanzabe (5)
Fred i'd say the jury is out on but you can't sell all you CM's so by default he'd be kept.
Pogba is a distraction now and not even that great anyway. Sell and re-invest it better.
Crazy that even out of the players kept, i'd say only 1 is proper top class and that's only at club level

I take my comment back.
Stretty only wanted 13-14 players gone last season, you want 11 and wouldn't care if 15. Even MORE drastic than Stretty's negativity!
Add in you strongly doubt we won't make top 4 (negative), and if so then you hope we lose even more games so we finish as low as 8th (extremely negative).
Wanting us to do so badly so that there is massive upheaval by changing more than half the squad, manager and his staff is FAR, FAR more negative than anything Stretty has said.
Pathetic and totally unrealistic.
When has a club sold or released over half their squad and sacked their manager from a top tier league in Europe?
Complete videogame nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lot of them are out of contract as it is. Few others will be moved on. It's not actually as mental as it sounds.
I expect we will see the biggest exodus of players in one go since Fergie. Honestly don't see likes of Zidane, Poch etc keeping many of them around. They're just not good anymore or never were.

Yep. Young n Valencia have been good servants but time is up. Most in my bottom list won't be missed at all.
A bit harsh on Grant, he was brought in as a third choice keeper and that's what he's always going to be.
Out of the sell/release list then some are probably near contract ends so can be released, at least one is on a long extremely lucrative contract (Sanchez) less so Lindelof and would have great difficulty releasing him.

He's signed a 1 year deal. He's in the list because he's out of contract and that's it. He's done nothing wrong for us as he's not played. Joel Periera will come back and be number 2 I reckon. Could even see Romero leaving too.
Any new manager you will have in the future will want to have time to take stock of the players before binning.
Dumping the amount of players you suggested in one go would surely put the new manager in a difficult situation whereby he would be expected to reach very high targets in his first season; especially if he was to be given the amount of money (very unlikely) required to replace to outgoing players.
Stick to football manager video games as Dave said. What you’re suggesting is not feasible in real life.
You mentioned “... some are out of contract”. So what? So was Felliani until he bent you over a wheeliebin.

A new manager will want to see 34 year old failed wingers come fullbacks, Matteo Darmian, Fellaini, a well past his best Mata? I could go on. What a load of tripe.
We've got about 10 players that need moving on regardless of Jose stays or not. The squad is in very bad shape.
We need to get rid of at least 8 of my list, buy about 4/5 quality players and give some of our talented young players a platform which our club is famous for doing.
Only Sanchez on that bottom list is worth keeping and that's in the hope that a new Manager can bring him back to life.
It's not football manager. It's the harsh reality of total miss-management at this club coming back to bite us.
You have to look at the situation with playing staff at United and think why has it got like it is.
It's such a mish mash of players with no direction at all.
Numerous people are accountable for the mess, have you got a DOF yet? It's very much needed.
Management involves providing a roadmap with risk appetite. Dumping “at least 8” in one go is a high percentage of attrition from the squad with no guarantee that the incomers will hit the ground running.
You’ll be the first one to bellyache when things are not in line with your doolally expectations and threaten to bin your so called season ticket in a football forum again.
If Bailly continues to be the new Jones then he can go too
Having to freshen things up due to a congested fixture list is one thing
Having to constantly shuffle defenders about due to injury prone players is another
