Squad

The trick is to do it cleverly, ofcourse the entire second team is a big drop off, even our Jose mark 1 squads suffered when we played most of the B team.

When fixtures are piling up most of them should be fine covering for one off games when needed.

Definitely have the squad for rotation. Suggesting otherwise is BS.

Problem with some is they expect optimal or instant standout performances from fringe (in the same vein as first-choice) that have barely played minutes/matches to form cohesion, quite frankly absurd.
Match-fitness and adaptation (to Sarri's method) is not at the level of the first-choice yet obviously.

Europa group is a three month process for fringe, over that period I fully expect some will be giving Sarri a selection headache.
Hopefully Hudson-Odoi & Ampadu get a look-in soon.
Embarrassing watching Arsenal field their standout youth player (Smith-Rowe) from last season, being trusted to play against Qarabag away (bear in my mind, this is a team that gave Atletico and Roma a hell of a time in CL last season), player that is level below Ampadu & Hudson-Odoi to my mind.

Putting the two outstanding youth products into the team against substandard Europa opposition is really not too much to ask.

That's 2 out of 6 wasted opportunities thus far, which would have been so valuable to them. Especially Hudson-Odoi who has yet to commit to new contract.

Moses & Cahill taking minutes away from Hudson-Odoi & Ampadu doesn't sit well with me at all. That's on Sarri.

I'm not interested in hearing bollocķs about playing them means conceding defeat.
Which is the usual cowardly nonsense reasoning in not playing them.

I don't think anyone has ever said it means conceding defeat, have they?

Obviously not those exact words but words to that effect.

Stuff like "Sarri clearly wants to win" that's why he's not playing Hudson-Odoi & Ampadu. Rubbish.
More than capable of winning matches with those two outstanding talents contributing in cup matches and off the bench in league.

I don't think anyone's even gone as far as that, i was probably the most understanding of the situation and even i was disappointed they didn't feature last night.

Got to cabellero and had to comment straight away. I think he’s the best number 2 in the league. Great keeper. Will read the rest lol

Really ? Other than shot stopping I don't rate him at all. Struggles with corners, crazy with the ball at his feet and will fly off his line whether the balls there to be won or not. Maybe it's because we've been spoilt with cudicini, cech, begovic in the last few years

I don't see Smith-Rowe and Guendouzi as any better than Hudson-Odoi and Ampadu, yet there they are being trusted by the new coach to play against a potential banana skin in Qarabag away.
Ampadu is a full Welsh international and has had first-team experience prior to signing for Chelsea.

There's no justification for leaving them out of the lineup for Europa group matches.

Yeah mate really rate willy. Had a few brain fart moments like all keepers but against Liverpool was great and been good whenever called upon. Some people even wanted TC dropped for him last year. Only issue for me is his height but I still rate him as the best back up in the league

Cab is better than Begovic for filling in for one off games, Asmir looked a fish out of water whenever he had to do that.

I'd probably choose Begovic as a number 1 if they were the options but that said he said some very soft goals at his near post when he had that run of games.

Neither got games at the same age.

Right, so you've clearly been oblivious to comments on here prior to our Europa matches.
I'm not going to call-out the specific posters but the people who post comments like Sarri is right to play side without youth then play youth once group is won know themselves.

I don't really care about age, irrelevant. If you’re good enough, you're old enough...
Point stands, no justification.

If Hudson-Odoi turns down a new contract and decides to leave it will be on Sarri's head.

What's going on with Christensen? Thought he was gonna be a top player and everything I saw of him when he came into your team supported that. Thought he would suit Sarri as well as comfortable on the ball

Nothing major. Young CBs have the steepest and slippiest learning curves. His is currently on a sloppy part, but no reason yet to doubt him

The squad is weak on some positions, RB being one for example, but we could have played CHO instead of Moses. CHO can’t be worse than Moses.

Best squad of players we’ve had in a long time. Just missing that top striker.

When Messi was 17 he was better than Ludiovic Guily and Maxi Lopes, yet guess which pair was getting the game time? And this is the greatest of all time at the club that's supposedly a dream for youth development.

Now as i have already said i wanted them both to play last night and if they slip through the net ill be as mad as anyone, but it's far to early to declare doomsday here.

No one has, he massively exaggerating. The difference in view is not about playing fringe players and young players but how many to play at the same time.

Some like me believe there needs to be a balance whilst MF and others feel we should play a completely different 11 players in the EL and agst perceived weak opposition in the cups.

Interestingly enough, for all Arsenal’s philosophy over the past 15 years to give young players opportunities in the first team would it be judged a as successful a) for the individual players b) for Arsenal?

That's an interesting point, would we be happy if we promoted a player at the level of say Iwobi and gave him umpteen chances?

There's always a danger of veering too far the other way, infact i think we ourselves did just that last season with Christensen (he wasn't ready to be relied on so heavily and it looks to have buggered him mentally).
