Sandy, what led you down this path of asking such a question?
I cannot tell you much without giving my identity away!
Suffice it to say I am an Academic and I have taught in England, France, Switzerland, Italy and three places in the USA. I am often invited to lecture at conferences, but NOT on football, that is not my specialty. Enough said, I think!

As a passionate traveller myself, I do love hearing about people experiencing life in different countries. In my opinion if you can afford it, travel as much as you can. The world is such an amazing place and you never truly experience life until you see other countries and experience different cultures.

You didn't have to say that football wasn't your specialty Ted don't worry nobody thought that was the case

Curiosity Ted. I got fed up with arguing about attendances, and whose club is bigger than whose. And with no meaningful footie for a week or so, I thought about coming up with articles like this. I may do a political one tomorrow.

Don, I travelled extensively when I was in my early 20s, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Pacific Islands (Tahiti was my favourite), the Americas, taking in such exotic places as Panama and Colombia, lots of European trips. Nowadays, I rarely venture out of the country, other than the odd trip to Brussels or Paris on Eurostar. I promised the missus we may do a European trip next year taking in France, Switzerland and Italy again, just need to organise it.

I was in Koh Phi Phi in 2008. It’s beautiful, though I imagine it’s built up so much more since then. I’m not sure I’d want to go back to see it so heavily built up. I hope it’s not got like Koh Samui

It's absolutely beautiful ain't it mate. I know this sounds silly, but you honestly feel like you are in Italy in Sorrento. It's narrow cobbled street markets, beautiful outside cafes and ice cream parlours, sea food restaurants by the harbour overlooking the med. stunning. We can't wait to get married there

Palmer , cheers mate. Any recommendations for Vietnam? Areas to visit etc ? I agree, I love South east Asia. Fell in love with it.

Oh and Palmer, phi phi is still beautiful. We did our trips early morning which was recommended. Visited Maya beach etc where The Beach movie was filmed. Was paradise and not many tourists as was early.

Don

Tbh I’ve not done a great deal in Vietnam, I just really enjoyed it

I was in Ho Chi Minh. Basically did the Vietnam War museum, very anti American!

Also did s couple of tours to the Mekong delta, and another tour which included some remote villages and visiting victims of the war (Napalm injuries etc) making beautiful ceramics

Glad to hear Phi Phi is still beautiful. Maybe I will go back one day

Wow brilliant we are seriously considering Asia again for the honeymoon. My misses always wanted to go Singapore so that's on the itinerary. I really want to go back to Hong Kong again, one of the greatest places on earth. We also might do Vietnam or Bali in the trio also.
