In terms of striker, I get Giroud isn't everyone's cup of tea but he's a physical striker and surely would relish the battle against Utd's CBs who look shot in terms of confidence. Jose might even decide to play McTominay there again if you're really lucky! This is a game I'd definitely play him rather than Morata.

Nah I’d prefer Morata to start. I think his movement in and around the box will cause United’s CB’s problems. They’ll be happy with Giroud starting as he spends most of the game back to goal trying to link up play.

Plus Giroud is really good at coming off the bench and changing a game.

Would prefer Morata to start, he'll be fresher as he barely played for Spain in the break and caused United problems both home and away last season with his movement. Scored in the home fixture and was wrongfully disallowed a goal at OT

Baffles me as well Nick. Maybe some feel a bit sorry for Utd so we want to give their defenders a bit of a morale boost seeing Morata's name on the team sheet.

Morata seemed to be more up for the game against United at the Bridge than against any other team I saw him play last season. He was very animated.

Don't rate either of them and find them both pretty useless, just think Giroud is a better sub (I'm sure the stats back that up) and Morata did well vs United and has got 2 in 2 so some confidence there

Giroud's all round game, contribution and link up with Hazard is still miles better than Morata and his limp displays.

Giroud scored a goal every 2.5 games for arsenal, just won the world cup playing every game for France, and has been involved in loads of goals for us since signing, including an FA cup semi final yet you don't rate him as better than Morata, it's just bizarre. No objectivity.

I don't think giroud is the answer long term but he is very good at aspects of the game. If he starts scoring goals he'll be a bargain of a signing.

Don't think Giroud has scored all season which is quite worrying, definitely need Icardi/Immobile in the summer

He hasn't played against the poor teams, morata has been prioritised to get his confidence up. I would guarantee he would have scored if he'd played the europa games etc

Didn't realise giroud only started 4 games. 4 assists, just needs to knock in a couple goals now.

Not sure he would, didn't score in the world cup either. He's better at getting the best out of the players around him by creating space and link up play but he's not a goalscorer which is ultimately what you pay a striker to do

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

I would personally rather an all round forward than a traditional fox in the box.

Either way both Morata and Giroud are not good enough for us to win the premier league, an area that definitely needs strengthening in the summer as January will be difficult to sign a top class striker.

If you look hard enough there will be plenty of options around who will do a top job, especially in a set up like ours.

Like I say 1 in 2.5 games for Arsenal, and I bet a lot of those were off the bench. Mind you if he scores 10 goals and keeps improving the team like he does i'd be happy.

Surplus to requirements at Arsenal, he'd be 3rd choice there now and the fact he's our 1st choice is a huge problem when we're looking to challenge

Strange logic, just look at players like dzeko, lukaku, sturridge when they were deemed surplus or second/third choice.

How did lacazette and aubameyang get on at the bridge? Just kept missing sitters if I remember.
