I'm starting to wonder if Cho wasn't rushed back somewhat from his injury. He recovered from it incredibly quickly. Didn't Loftus-Cheek suffer the same injury at around the same time? If so he's been out twice as long as Cho was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its possible, but i still think he has been way over hyped too soon and the the whole contract issue and Bayern interest has set expectations at a ridiculous level for such a young player who has really done nothing of note.
For me he really should go out on loan. Look at how Tomori, Mount and Tammy have blossomed after a loan and also Reece.
If we sign Sancho then frankly he has to go out on loan imo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd have to disagree with that Biggish. For me the whole contract thing is a smoke screen to what people are saying about him now.
The whole Bayern thing should be null and void as far as I'm concerned and I understand why he would have wanted away when he did.
As far as I'm concerned and no one will convince me otherwise, he's the best of our academy with one exception - Reece James.
I've been watching him for roughly 3/4 years now and frankly from what I've seen of Sancho, I believe Hudson Odoi to be the better player.
If we signed Sancho and then loaned Hudson Odoi I'd be appalled.
I can't say how disappointed I'd be if we did go down that route, I've always been a champion of youth but the last thing we need st the moment is bringing another into the fold when we need older heads to guide the ones we have!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But Brummie if the alternative means none to little game time for CHO, which is happening at the moment then how is that going to benefit him. He is no way good enough at present to hold down a first team place.
A full season of playing regulalrly did wonders for the aforementioned players....why would it not do the same for CHO?

I don't begrudge Cho weighing up his options and having talks with Bayern. Especially when you look at our very poor record at bringing through and actually playing youth prior to this season. I might have done the same thing in his position.
How good Cho is remains to be seen. He's been brilliant at all levels until now in his first full season in the top flight after coming back from a bad injury over the summer. Time will tell but I'm quite certain that he's considerably better than what we've seen of him so far this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Superb, what are his wages on this new contract and are they in anyway justified?
There is one thing weighing up options, but the contract he forced out of the club does not shout out..........
club loyalty
There is a reason Frank has been hard on CHO and it is imo because he knows he has to kick the prima donna out of this lad before it becomes permanent
He is earning 180k a week, i don't think it is plausible to have a player earning that amount of monay sitting on the bench for most of the season...nobody wins that way
I agree with Biggish completely. I also dont care if he's the best player we've ever produced. If he cant reproduce that level of quality at some point this season then we have to look to loan him. Its also SO STUPID to offer a kid that much money for being good in our youth teams. It takes away the hunger.

And that is why I think Frnak has (by his own admission) been hard on him. I think he sees the risk of lack of motivation in CHO
I'd love it if Cho became the star he seems capable of but I'm having my doubts. Its early of course but like we've pointed out, I dont see the hunger or desire in him at the moment. And the contract debacle has left a sour taste in my mouth. The manager excuse is flimsy. We go through managers far too often for a player, especially a young one, to worry about playing time under a specific manager. Chances are they will change. He was playing a game and got what he wanted in the end. Time to prove you're worth it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they're not justified, especially if he's on 180k per week. Actually thought he was on about 100k per week. Wages are crazy in football now though.
But I don't blame Cho himself for that. His agent has played a blinder and used Bayern's interest to get the club to pay Cho 180 k per week. That's on the club and a decision they willingly made.
I agree that a loan for Cho is probably the right move. Been saying that on the Haven. Somewhere he's going to play every week, develop into the the play he surely can be and learn how to play in the top flight.
But I also agree with Brum that Sancho isn't necessarily a massive upgrade on Cho. And if we're talking crazy money then the £100 million that it would cost to bring Sancho here is definitely that.

As things stand he's definitely better than Cho having played way more top flight football as well as no serious injuries but that doesn't mean that he's guaranteed to be a massive upgrade on Cho over time if he comes to the PL.
As you say they have similar potential so nobody can say at this point that over time one is definitely going to be better than the other. Could go either way even if Sancho is undoubtedly the one playing better and looking the part right now.
Sideshow is saying Sancho will help us NOW. That in itself is an upgrade.

That's fine, I'm not against us signing Sancho. But he certainly wouldn't come cheap and £100 million for a 19 year old with no PL experience would certainly be very interesting.

Yep, I think the club has to make a call on that...it is a lot of money to spend. It's like paying a huge insurance premium in case Pulisic and CHO dont work out, but with the added risk that Sancho himself does not work out
Yeah big call on the club's part. I'm all for us signing young players and hopefully we carry on looking to build for the future with plenty of younger signings. But it's a lot of money in this case.

I've never heard of him being on that much before Biggish. I've googled it an I come up with sources that quote anything from 180k that you mention to 120k, which is what I'd believed it to be.
The contract situation is the clubs fault anyway, they should have sorted his situation out way before Munchen became interested.
Either way, I still see him playing a lot of football for us over the course of the season and in my opinion to loan him would be a complete travesty. If he went to a PL club, the way things are going we could be in competition with most of them for places this season, plus I think it would drive him away as well!!!
My worry is that if he doesn't play he is gonna get left behind the likes of Mount, Tammy and others
