Because, aside from it not having anything to do with us, it has cost us, and other European countries far too many lives, quite apart from Afghanistan itself, where the deaths run into hundreds of thousands.........

It is not our problem...end of.

You’re entitled to that opinion harle and I respect that but to say it’s not our problem is a little naive.

To say we shouldn’t have gone in there, you need to understand why we did in the 1st place.

Afghanistan was a safe haven for Al Qeda terrorist training camps who were there under the protection and hospitality of the Taliban.

From there all sorts of undesirables were training in the art of killing and terrorism and sent out into the world to bring fear to our doorsteps. The 7/11 bombers, the 7th July 05 London bombings and Charlie Hebdo atrocity (which I know you were so vocal in condemning) probably had the seeds of there attacks planned there.

Those training camps, when combat troops left in 2015, were eliminated. Those are the facts – it’s up to the individual to decide whether they think we should have gone in to cut the head off the snake or not.

I personally think it was the right thing to do if we were serious about trying to protect civilian populations around the world from terrorism.

All good Nick. Delighted we now go into a season with a proper 9. Will mean our top scorer should score more than 7 PL goals lol

posted on 25/8/21

Haha that would be a thing wouldn’t it. The ability to have a plan a and b now is great

Yeah, still early doors but I’m hopefull. Not looking forward to Saturday. The place I hate going the most with those northern monkeys. Whistling and booing and throwing bricks at the team bus and acting like jobless yobs. I know we’ve got our share of moronic fans but as a fan base they are annoying as they come

Yeah very tough game tomorrow Nick. Would have preferred it to come a few games later after we've bedded in Lukaku more but c'est la vie Rodders

On the flip side we'll be playing them while Diick Van Dyke's still brushing off his rust streaks!

Yes I prefer to play these games a bit later in the season. Not feeling confident today and not helped by Anthony Taylor.

This whole narrative on vvd. Most overrated player in pl history. The way they talk about him as if he’s a forward and how “watch our vvd is back” he’s a facking cb who’s had one and a half good years of football.

That's a tad harsh Nick. I put an article up about him when he was still a Celtic saying he'd be a good signing for us.

I was at sea at lot in the RN, when he was at Celtic and the British Forces Broadcasting Services used to show a lot of Celtic and Rangers games because of the amount of Scots in the forces.

Hence I saw a lot of him and could see his quality then.

I still go back to that article to laugh at the ones that mocked me for it!

I’m not saying he’s not a good player but the way people talk about him. A defenders job is to stop. He will be worried about lukaku not the other way round.
Never heard anyone say the stuff about Terry/vidic/Stam/Adams etc. Just seems ridiculous

Case in point. The sky sports Instagram page just done a post “VVD V Lukaku”

No it’s Liverpool v chelsea.ridiculous

posted on 28/8/21

That's not the players fault!

The fact is he's a very good player and deserves most of his accolades!

posted on 28/8/21

Never said it was, just the whole fanfare over him is a joke. Like the worlds never seen a decent cb before!
