Ok so City do have a bit of history then even if they've yo-yo'd between divisions.

Sounds awesome tbh. Shame that Uefa have basically disowned it but football is much bigger than one organisation anyway

It wasn't a UEFA run tournament though Superb, it was organised more through FIFA a believe.

Basically the teams that qualified for it were ones that finished in the top four, but now qualifiy for the Champions League before UEFA devalued it by giving those places to CL qualification!

Yeah it’s a myth that the usual suspects like to peddle that us “financially doped” Clubs did nothing and had no support until we both blew them all away.
Man City had 84,000 in an Fa Cup game once back in the day and our record crowd was almost 83,000 against Arsenal in 1935.
Yeah, it's a myth that kids of the PL era are peddled.
Before the war City were much the bigger club in terms of attendances than United.
Try telling most of the Liverpool and United boards that their all time average attendance didn't surpass Chelsea's until circa 1975 and they wouldn't be able to cope with life any longer!

Damn I didn't know that Brummie.
Looks like Inter will be sending Lukaku back to us then lol
Unfortunately yes, how are we going to get rid of such a useless item as him?
I think he'll be part of our squad next season. Can't see other options unless Inter come back for him.

It was major back in the day. I was shocked to hear that it is not now recognised by UEFA. Basically was the UEFA Cup before the UEFA Cup replaced it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just before my time too, but Wednesday also have history in this competition proving there was life before the PL
As league runners-up in the 1960–61 season, Sheffield Wednesday were invited to compete for the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup the following season. They knocked out Lyon and Roma before succumbing to Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
Two years after their inaugural European campaign, Wednesday were again invited to compete in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, after a sixth place league finish. They overcame Dutch part-timers DOS Utrecht in the first round before losing out to Cologne in the next.

Thanks for the valuable contribution Kitty. As I said earlier I remember it being a big deal back in the day which is why I was shocked when Superb told me about UEFA's position on it these days.
Yeah Chelsea, UEFA might have disowned it, but the stats are still there and can't be denied.
I'm no Arsenal fan by any means but they have 2 major European trophies and always have had, not one as is now being claimed. This was also the last major trophy that Newcastle won in 1969.

True. But let's just call in one so we can constantly remind them that they've only ever done as well in Europe as West Ham

Sounds good mate never let the truth get in the way of a good opportunity to underline our superiority over them in Europe even pre-Mr A.
