Cads out on Loan?

couldn't agree more derby, i've been saying we need another striker but got shouted down by most on here.

If we used Ward as a striker that just causes disruption to our now settled team formation, but he isn't a 'striker' anyway. We are light if we are playing 2 every game, we only have 1 sub (when Rhodes is not on international duty), and as you say, Alan Lee could be out suspended..which if it coincides with rhodes being away means we have one striker only.

I didn't go to MKD, but the examiner last night listed 4 clear chances that Novak missed, obviously that happens from time to time, but there isn't the same competition for places up front as in other places in towns team.

I think with cads going LC will definately be bringing in a recognised striker on loan, in fact I'd be surpised if he isn't already in negotiation because it's obvious to a blind man we are in need of another. We had 4 strikers last season yet only played 1 half the time, now we are playing 2 and only have 3 on the books.

So, yes derby, agree 100%..

What a signing Kev Phillips would have been !! !!

I know LC can make some odd decisions at times but I do have faith that this information regarding Cads has only surfaced because the backroom discussions have wrangled us a loan striker of more recognisable use than Cads, although I do like the lad.

As you say Jacko, sometimes even the sitters don't want to go in for you, although the positive that can be taken from it is that he was getting in to the right positions to actually have these chance. I think on Saturday he'll get a hatrick

I agree completely that Ward shouldn't be used for the position if we can help it at all. It would cause disruption and its just not necessary, well it shouldn't be.

Yes. he's banging them in for Blackpool, but I'd like to see some young, hungry, tall and quick striker who has a record of banging in goals ...but that might prove difficult to find...whoever it is needs to have some pace and a good work ethic, and be tall enough to fill the Alan Lee role which has proved to be such a catalyst to our improved form of late. Am sure there is somebody somewhere, but no idea who is available for loan.

Did McDermott paly just behind the striker/s whilst on loan at Bournemouth last season??

Just another option

Its an option Inter but not ideal in my opinion and with the depth we have elsewhere in the squad we shouldn't really be "making do", we should have players who are specifically intended to fill these set roles. Its a bit different when considering attacking and defensive midfielders as a variety of players can fill those roles depending on the specific requirements but strikers need to be out and out strikers.

We are so much nearer the finished product this season, it would be a shame not to add the final ingredient. We still maybe need a centre back as cover as well as a striker, but the loan market has plenty there I would think.

having swamped the midfield with talent and variety we seem more confortable with 2 up top. interesting to hear danny Wilson bemoaning our strength up front last week...we can't afford to let that slip. Alan Lee has added the missing ingredient, shame I feel Rhodes and Novak are still a bit inconsistent although Novaks workrate makes up for a lot of his misses.

Deano has plenty in the bank from Pilks and Pelts so a quality loanee up top would do the business for me.

But, good strikers are hard to find and even harder to persuade t'other club to let them go during the season. If a League 2 club have a Striker banging them in then he might be worth a punt to jump up a League, but you know as well as I do that Town Fans want " the finished article" other wise we have another "why have we signed Alan Lee situation". If Afobe or someone similar became available then yes it would be good, but players do sometimes take time to settle (back to Alan Lee). Why not use the players we have to make the Opposition think about us more. Play someone in behind a striker if we have players who can fill that role. Dean Hoyle spending large sums has to pay off this year or players will be sold during the summer

cant work out why he was given another contract if clark had little or no intention of playing him or even putting him on the bench??

if he is loaned out without a replacement coming in it might be a big indicator as to the cash flow at the club??

I was at mk and dont remember novak having 4 clear cut chances..alan lee had 2-3 very acceptable chances and didnt score. novak was given the ball a couple of times in daft positions when the passer would have been much better off having a shot..

you need 4 proper strikers in the squad..not widemen who can double up or midfielders who can fill a gap.. being honest is mccombe a centre forward in waiting???

yes if its desperate dan time but we know we are short and it can be sorted long before we are "making do"...

Should we be offering Alan Lee a one year extension ? Wud be a bummer if he was out of contract before play off final...if that happened to be the case. Think we should start talks with him at least, becasue at the moment he is working hard for a contract somewhere.

Contracts usually run to 30th June

I think cads got his contact cos 'he's a character in the changing rooms' and good for team moral.

Hydy ............. I could be a character in the changing rooms, but I wouldn't get a contract !!

Maybe we should've signed a jester, probably cheaper.

A bit more info from LC reagrding Cads and our recall requirements; maybe he doesn't have a striker lined up, maybe he is relying on not having an issue for 28 days and then after than having the recall being enough.

Cads is massively popular down at the club, around the place in general and in the dressing room as well. I reckon that kept him his job as much as being a back-up player, which would explain why he's still at the club when many thought he'd leave in the summer. I've no doubt if he does go out on loan we'll have the option to recall him should we need to so it won't really affect us even if one of our recognised strikers does get injured.

What ever we do dont bring Benik back . He cost us auto last season, not because he was rubbish , but that was the start of 4.5.1 and we've only just got over that last wk .

lol Arro, although I can see exactly where you are coming from I believe Benik would work very well in the current system.

No mate he cost us last season am not just saying it ,he did. It was the worst thing we could have done last season .If we had Novak and rhodes playing we would have gone up .
