It's not likely to come down to tactical managerial genius but which team makes the most mistakes.
Have Forest actually received a penny for Brereton? I thought he was on loan to Blackburn with a view to a permanent deal which MIGHT eventually be worth up to 7 million, if it goes through. He always looked crap to me. I like Osborn though, and Cash, Forest have done well there. Bogle has similarly done very well for us so far. Forest have outperformed Derby on the Academy side in recent years although we did have Hughes and Hendrick who came through and more recently Lowe and Bennett who haven't yet established themselves but who still might. We do have one or two more starlets like Sibley and Knight who you won't have heard of but who we have hopes for in the future. In recent years we have spent too much on players and not given the youngsters a chance which now seems to be changing under Lampard. By contrast Forest have splashed the cash a bit more lately so maybe it will change around. Perhaps you will become the Man City of the East Midlands after all, long after it was first promised.
Brereton deal is a permanent move in Jan. Blackburn have signed it. Looking a decent deal at the moment.
There is a still a clear path through to the first team for the academy players. Cash and Osborn have proved this, despite a lot of competition being brought in this summer. Appiah is the next one likely to break though and could potentially be the best of the lot.
Seemed a weird one all round, Brereton. Weird that he would want to go to a club like Blackburn who are only a relatively small step up from Forest, weird that Blackburn would spend such a lot on an unproven player, weird that Forest would let go a player who might have a lot of potential. You would think that a fair chunk of the fee would be add-ons, but also that Forest would want a percentage of any future sale. If the money is all up front it seems very odd.

Obviously hope we can win
But you have to respect that Derby are a good team with dangerous players, think we can manage a draw based on previous away performances this year.
I am thinking this could be the first of 4 games between us this year.......
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think either team could win this one. There is talent aplenty in both sides. Obviously we hope all our talent will prove effective tonight. And we hope the ref is fair and cannot be bamboozled by cheating players. Doe anybody know who the ref is tonight?
It is Keith Stroud, Ramdini.

It is a good move for Brereton. Good chance to become frontline striker at a club in the same league. Nothing odd other than your lack of comprehension.
Stroud has given some harsh decisions against us, I hope Karanka has the lads on their toes with strict instructions not to dive in.
Maybe Will, but I'm not the only one a bit confused by it, so are Blackburn fans. He hasn't been played much and Mowbray doesn't really know what to do with him. Despite what you say, Mowbray doesn't seem to think he is a striker at all at the moment. I'm not point-scoring or suspecting foul play or anything, just think it's a little odd.

They’re not as good as Forest so it was always going to be a tough challenge for Brereton. No real expectation up there at the moment so the less pressure environment should give him time to prove his worth.

Been a lot better organised recently. Other than Figueiredo the other week, the team have barely committed a foul so I’m confident they’ll be ok.
Good move for Ben, there will be less crowd pressure on him there and a very good move for us!
Grabban has 14 league goals! although he might not score tonight, probably will be marked by that ox Keogh.

It freed up the money and space for Grabban. Was a calculated gamble by Karanka as it could have backfired given Grabban is a lot older for starters and Brereton is a way of reaching his potential yet. Seems Forest have got the better end of the deal as it stands.
Anyone got any idea on team news? Will Karanka throw in a surprise or two, such as Fox?...
I don't think he will risk Fox, look at the fixture list! no easy games until Reading on 12th January.
I wonder if Murphy will fancy a loan move to Ipswich?
Could be a sub tonight, although it didn't work against Preston.
Yes, led to the team becoming too direct and didn’t play to anyone’s strengths. Down to PNE being pretty organised too, though, in fairness.
Enjoy the game everyone and play nicely. Got to go out but hopefully I’ll catch the second half...🥺
Come on you Tricky Trees!
