Religious ignorance

It’s of course disgusting and there’s no place for it in any walk of life

What amazes me is that football is one of the few things that brings people from every colour, religion and background together

We have Salah and Mane who are two Muslim players and our fans love them - and for me it’s not just about how good they are but look at how they conduct themselves (Salah in particular) you couldn’t meet a more humble guy and the reason why I mention these two players is that the Muslim community for me get the worst press out of all the religions and this shows that not everything we read or see on the tele is true.

I’m genuinely not trying to have a swipe at Utd but they’d sing for years about scouse b@$tards when Rooney was their star player - and whilst I appreciate it nowhere near as bad as racist/religious chants we see fans from clubs insulting opposing sides whilst the songs or remarks they make are heard by their own players who are from the same community that they’re insulting

There is still too much racism, religious ignorance and inequality in football.. but as John Barnes has pointed out this isn’t just a Chelsea or football issue - football fans are a reflection of the whole society... media equally to blame

You're asking the general public to be thoughtful, tolerant, accepting of others and generally well behaved

Not happening, all kinds attend football matches, thieves, racists, murderers, rapists and other such creatures, you could be sitting right next to one next time you're at the match

I think the silver lining from the racism incident towards Sterling is that he came out and shamed the media in this country. Sadly, only a few papers have really featured this in detail, but maybe, just maybe maybe, behind closed editor's doors, there will be a change of culture. I imagine there is quite an old school culture in the sports departments of newspapers...............hopefully it will change

Can anybody tell me why n word is used by people of African people to refer to each other is considered OK but when a non black person calls someone with the same word, it is considered racism.Similarly, religious racism is also stupid. Many athiests think that practising all religions is wrong and everyone should be an athiest. Then, there is another ignorant class of religious extremists with some terrorist organisations like those in Pakistan and India like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi,Balochistan Liberation Front,Vishva Hindu Parishad and extremist Muslims and Hindus in the two countries respectively.

This is a liberal society.

100 Christians arrested in Iran for converting.

Pakistan Christian treated with death for being christian.

Isis murdering Christians for their faith and Christians are the main victims of sectarian oppression globally.

Chelsea fans need to ditch racist and antisemitic actions ....end of!

Shaming our club.

On inequality in football, what do you mean?

There are a minority of white British players in the epl!

Religious ignorance in football..??..elaborate please, as theology rarely features in the EPL, imo!

Replying to posts on racial inequality in British football, where British white players are the minority.
I was seeking clarification on where racial inequality existed in the epl.

The OP was titled religious intolerance.

Christians suffer this most of all around the world, but not exclusively.

Do you agree?

If black players got paid less than white p!ayers, that would be insane.....what form of inequality are we talking about.

I hate racists and racism, and antisemitism.

Love Chelsea👍

Why Christians, how did you measure that? Or is it simply a law of averages because they're the most numerous to begin with?

The problem here, why it'll be so hard to eradicate, is football's acted as a haven to the close minded pretty much since it became a national sport. No matter how well the rest of society does at eliminating discrimination in all it's various forms, as long as there's a problem at all (and it's human nature to resent something, club rivalries are a thing because of that instinct) football will always attract the select few.

It's actually quite ironic as football's one of the few material things today that unites the whole world in terms of passion for the game itself, but it's always going to have that dark side, I can't see how that's going to change unfortunately.
