There has been a significant improvement we at least being competitive away from home. Improvements need to continue and that will come with time and new players.

In all fairness this was the worst performance of the season. Defensive crisis hasn’t helped either though the performance didn’t really have much to do with that aspect

Unfortunately the season is slowly starting to look more and more like last season.

No real investment in the squad, Injury crisis, shocking defensively and lack of quality

Arsenal have spent an awful lot of money to show not a lot improvement. They are in a fight for a top six position probably with United.

I think they have.

Personally think they have a pretty weak squad of players though. Apart from Lacazette, Torreria and Auba I don't really rate any of them. (Guendouzi looks a decent prospect too)

If they have the resources to build on that Emery will do well IMO. That's an if though.

U can’t polish a terd

He needs a clear out and time to get his own players in.

They are lucky to get a pint from that game .Brighton let them off

What are you talking about? Man city spent more on one player than we spent on five players in the summer. We previously sold a lot of players to cover what we spent on Auba. Emery needs at least two more windows before judgement can be passed.

Decent going forward, terrible at the back.

Massively lucky to go unbeaten for as long as they did and at risk of a real good hiding at Liverpool.

The seem to have burnt out a bit and that old lazy mentality is back, can't help when Ozil goes awol on 300k a week takes holidays n breaks when he wants performs when he wants etc.

Torreira, Aub and Laca are the only ones you'd care about keeping surely.

well they upped their game for their cup final last time vs us but still got a bit lucky with officials.

We have, but not enough to get into the top 4, in my opinion.

The injury crisis we've had, which is worse than usual, has done us no favours. However, Emery's not helped himself with some of his decisions.

Today was a classic example of why I think some of the starting 11, the formation and the substitutions cost us a win today, despite our injury woes.

So far, he just about has my support. BUT if he keeps making dumb decisions deep into February/March time, which costs us results, I will switch. Can't be dealing with him taking Lacazette off when we need goals or starting 34 year old OAPs when we desperately need width.

We have improved significantly

That doesn’t mean that Emery has been faultless. Has made a lot of mistakes over the course of the season and the defending is worse than ever

We have a realistic chance of top 4 though which we never had at any stage of last season. Too 4 would be an overachievement considering the quality of our squad in comparison to others

Arsenal over the past two or three transfer windows have spent over £200 million.

Arsenal have not significantly improved. We still look a shambles at the back, and while we have scored a decent amount of goals, they are coming from fewer chances than before. We lack creativity, with our full/wing backs being our only way of getting in behind defences most times.

Emery’s pragmatism was the reason why I did not want him appointed as Arsenal manager. I think that the squad needs serious improving, but that is the only reason why I will give him time. The last four performances have been worse than anything I saw under Wenger last season. The 4-0 defeat we suffered last season at Anfield could be matched on Saturday.

Not the first time that I have pointed out the fact that this is a poor squad. Another unacceptable display by a mediocre Gunner side. Got an early goal, but instead of trying put BHA away, they fiddled around and let them bet back in the game. In fact, as the game progressed, they were fortunate not to lose.

Unlike Liverpool and Spurs, this team seems to lack energy, enthusiasm and leadership and they don't look like they are having fun. They spend too much time disputing calls by the game officials, and now they are "finger pointing" at team mates when things are going poorly during the game!

Emery, who appears somewhat confused on the sideline, had better get control of this situation or Arsenal will quickly tempt the patience of its large and loyal support base, and he could become a one season manager.

I could be totally wrong, but if you disagree please stay on topic, no stupid personal insults or juvenile comments please.

I agree with the majority of your post apart from this. Today's display is as bad as it's been under Emery, but we had way worse displays than this in Wenger's last two years.

We also have to remember that this is still mostly Wenger's team. He will need the opportunity to reinvest and strengthen our current options, which aren't good enough right now, especially in trying to play the way he wants.

I personally think he needs to give some of the younger players more of a chance in the first team when we have injury crises like today, but he'll have to figure that one out on his own.

I just hope he doesn't turn a lot of people against him if he continues to make weird subs/starting 11s for the foreseeable future.

There are still a lot of people who aren't convinced by him yet.

That’s the thing though, I don’t know how he wants to play. I can’t see on the pitch how he wants the team to play. I would have hoped to have seen a little something by now. His substitutions are becoming as choreographed as Wenger’s 70th minutes substitutions.

However, as I said, I do recognise that this squad really does need improving. The fact that players like Iwobi, Guendouzi And Lichtsteiner are getting regular game time says all that you need to know.

The last few weeks, they haven't been great. Performances has dipped but they seem to be kind of escaping the radar of criticism or is it just me that thinks that?

Anyways, they are under a new manager trying to adjust in this transitional period. Still think they are underwhelming outside of their attacking threat mind.

We did try to put Brighton away. Aubameyang missed a one-on-one, and we were by far the superior side in the first half.

Energy is lacking at the moment, but I’m not sure how you can assess whether or not the players are enjoying playing right now. Also, what team doesn’t contest calls made by the officials, and ask questions of team-mates when things go wrong?

I agree that Emery, at times appears as if he’s just free styling, but he will not be a one season manager, unless things go catastrophically wrong.

They’ve been more competitive in big games, played some better football at times and improved away from home. But it still resembles a lot of what was seen last season, especially at the back.

Anyone with any awareness of underlying stats (xG) knows that Arsenal overperformed big time for a long period of this season. They were getting results which meant their average performances were overlooked, but inevitably this doesn't last forever
