Probably ain’t staying then is he

All this does is allow Levy to ask for a ridiculous number if United come calling in Jan. Unless we agree a LT deal he's still gonna be off for 25mln in the summer

It's basically guaranteeing a £25m transfer fee rather than zero. So 6 months then he's off.

if he goes we'll probably be concentrating on buying another CB rather than CMs and other areas.

Typical Spurs.... Levy using Poch's onfield success/ optimism to distract from his cheap, penny pinching BS.... So bored of him

With Toby, the contract situation must be all about money. He is nearly 30 and wants a big deal which I totally understand.

So, for me we really should be offering him a 150 to 180k per week 3 year deal. No way are we going to get anyone anywhere near as good as a replacement. We will also likely have to pay £30m+ for an average centre back to replacement.

I will be very annoyed if he goes to somewhere like united just because we aren't competitive on wages.

Until you realize its Spurs we're talking about !! Knowing us we'll win the league this year, sell Eriksen, Toby & Rose. Levy won't pay Poch or give him money for players until the stadium is 100% paid off, Poch will join United and then Levy will make Kane player- Manager to save on salaries

30 isnt old at the back. experience is important and him and vertonghen have been the pinnacle for turning spurs around 3 or 4 years ago.

what the fack are you on about

The most annoying thing about this is that United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and a host of Europe's top clubs will give him a 3 or 4 year deal on 180-200K a week without blinking after paying 25mln for him in June.... Yet we wont because we are above such reckless spending... ugghhh

so if his old deal ran out summer 2019 and we've activated the option u to summer 2020 which summer window does it refer to ?

25m?

Many clubs will be licking their lips.

How did it come to this?

posted on 27/12/18

Its so Spurs, wait for good news/ everyone optimistic, great results etc and then try and slip something negative passed us. He'll wait till we beat Dortmund or Pull off some miracle by winning at Anfield/ City etc & then announce talks have stalled with Eriksen over his new deal. You know its coming..... Earth shattering announcement that Olly Skipp has signed a NEW ONE YEAR EXTENSION....... WhooHooo

posted on 27/12/18

Triggering the extension makes total sense.

Buy one big gripe about Levy is he sometimes deals in false economies. Toby is clearly one of the best CB's in the league. He probably wants 200k p/w and a 4 year deal. Obviously levy will want to knock back on this, but if it comes down to that or letting him go for £25m to Man u then imo you have to give Toby the deal.

Obviously, you can say that sets a precedent. But Toby is a world class CB who most top clubs would want. If Sanchez then came with his agent wanting 200k p/w you would tell him to fack off.

I was really pleased Kane got a massive contract in the summer. I really hope we can offer similar terms to Toby and Eriksen. I fully understand the argument of keeping sustainable but with the new stadium revenue and continued champions league income we are likely to be pushing £400m revenue soon and we can certainly offer our world class stars market rate.

Summer 2019 obviously as there'd be no point if it was 2020.

On the other hand, you can make United pay more in January to avoid a scramble in the summer.

Every top team should be looking to sign him at that price.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Every top team should have been looking to sign him for just £11 Million back when we did. In fact, the top team who already had him, Atletico, who are known for their defensive qualities, are the ones who really should be kicking themselves.
