Another morning, another moaning from Castor.
Tax, death..... you know the rest.
Ramsey is injury prone and average. Any club he signs for will discover this to their cost(even as a freebie).
The only mismanagement I see here is not selling him last summer.
Tommo said on Gillette soccer special he was always leaving.
So all the professional scouts at Juve, PSG, Bayern know less than us?
He is free so of course clubs want to sign him. If you are familiar with Juve, they love to do that kind of business. Very low risk for what might be a squad player.
What I find outrageous is the fact that Emery doesn't utilise him more.
What choice do we have? Do tell. You either let him go or hand him a fat new contract which he doesn't deserve. Our wage bill is stupid enough as it is.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is in demand because he is free. He will be a bench player in any of those teams.
His level is Everton/Westham.
And yes Benega is a superior player.
Lastly, I will readily take Dennis Suarez of Barca on loan if we manage to ship the Welshman out this January.
I didn't think you were 'allowing him' to leave, I thought you'd offered a contract and he'd rejected it so is therefor leaving?
How hard do you fight to keep someone of his ability, double his wages?
Most clubs (including us) would take him, I'd have him at United as a squad player because he can be really useful, but he's not a player I'd want us to buy for £50m as you say he'd be worth, no one would go for him at that price.
Mike, you guys spend 50M Fred. United would pay the same for Ramsey
We withdrew the contract. He was ready to sign
Sure Castor, if you believe that, then so be it.
So you really think if Ramsey was on the market, he wouldn't command £50M?
Given his injury record and form, putting aside a bit of a purple patch a season or so ago, I don't think there would be a bidding war among the elite clubs for £50m+ for Ramsey, no.
I think many clubs would take him on a free, because it's relatively low risk and teams can afford the wages, and sell him on if it doesn't work out.
He’s been offered a new contract with more pay. He rejected it and wanted to be highest paid player. He probably also wants to take his chance to make his last big paid move/deal of his career, which is understandable.
Unless we want him to be highest paid player at the club there’s not much more we can do. He’s a decent player, but isn’t irreplaceable. Apart from 1 or 2 seasons he’s never been an absolute key player for us. It’s frustrating we’re not getting a fee for him, but we offered him a new deal a while ago, he rejected it. Not much more we can do. Got to draw the line somewhere otherwise we’ll end up paying everyone too much. Already got too many average players like Kolasinac being paid way above their ability

I recall Unai saying he will build the team around Ramsey when he was first appointed.
After pre-season and the initial few games, he learned that Rambo was not the player he thought, and, my reckoning advised that the contract be withdrawn.
Unai's call on Wilshere (I thought it was the wrong decision at the time) has proven to be the right one too.

We could have offered him a revised contract at a level we think is reasonable, which we never did. We just tore up Gazidis' deal and told Ramsey to go, which was silly. Of the two, I would rather keep Ramsey and get rid of Ozil, yet it appears the reverse is going to happen. Makes no sense.

Not true. The parties verbally agreed on terms for a new deal which was then formally offered to the player. But when Gazidis left and before the player responded to the offer, the new guys decided the club should withdraw the offer. There was never any revised offer to the player. In fact he was never told the offer was off the table until he spoke out in the media, and the club then officially told him so. Badly handled by the club.
The day of average players at Arsenal will continue with the penny pinching transfer model
Elneny, Xhaka, Guendouzi wouldn't make any of the match days squads for pool, city or even Chelsea
