But you are six points off the top, with a much worse gd, and that team have only dropped nine points all season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Means nothing, second half of the season they could drop 20. It was who is top in May that counts. I reckon off the top of my head I suspect at least 50 clubs have had a six points lead at the top at Xmas, and failed to win the title.

I very much doubt that, certainly not in the major leagues.

Wolves game shouldn’t make a blind bit of difference. Liverpool lost the next game and we won ours, so effectively we have gone slightly closer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's about context.

You seem to put wins together and look genuinely incredible while chasing from a safe distance, but as soon as the attention comes on you and you have a genuine chance to make a serious push in the title race you seem to mess it up.

Happened in 2016, happened while you were chasing us and has happened again this time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Er so you lose a chase at Xmas. Get a grip.

But it’s about projecting the season. For numerous reasons, ones you make all the time, they don’t think Spurs will be involved in the mix for the title when it’s actually being handed out. Being six points off top in January obviously isn’t of much concern to them, which is why they weren’t talking about Spurs. Don’t need to get so upset about it, it is what it is. These are clearly the two best sides in England right now

Yes as it stands currently it is a 3 horse race. Not that really hard to understand is it ? My personal opinion makes no difference. As being discussed last night, we should at least be mentioned as being involved, that’s all I’m saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Doesnt that mean the rest of the top six are also in it?

I get what you mean but it's just Sky selling the game and selling the event. They hype whatever happens to be on and the pundits all play their part.

I'm pretty sure that next time Spurs are on Sky then it'll be about title chasing Spurs.

To be honest I've got to the stage with Sky where I don't even bother with the build up or post match stuff, just watch the game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeh I do that with the sound down. Cannot stand Sky and all their bollox.

You do know the league started in 1888, I can remember plenty of times over 60 years that I have been watching that clubs have had that kind of lead at Xmas and not won the title, I dare say their were plenty of other times in the 70 or 80 years previous as well.

You are ignoring the context.

Spurs have a track record of fluffing their lines when it matters most, and until you change that it will be a stigma attached.

Tbf Spurs have already lost five games this season and we're only just past the halfway point, I think Blackburn are the only team to lose more than six games and still win the title.

Both Liverpool, who have only lost once and have the best defence in the league AND City who have only lost three times and have the third-best defence in the league would need to hit really poor runs to allow Spurs in, which is pretty unlikely.

Spurs are also more susceptible, or so it seems, to defeats like the one suffered at home to Wolves or away at Watford.

" reckon off the top of my head I suspect at least 50 clubs have had a six points lead at the top at Xmas, and failed to win the title."

I very much doubt 50 times in 120 years a team have been six points clear at xmas and lost the lead!!!

Bruce, what difference does that make wether we lost 5? We haven’t drawn yet. We could lose 8 games, win the remaining 30 and draw 0, leaving us with potential title winning points of 90. How does losing a certain amount of games determine a title ?

posted on 4/1/19

It’s only happened twice in the premier league era. Fortunately both times were Liverpool. Good omens for City.

Long given up what the media and pundits especially have to say. At the end of the day it's up to Spurs to prove them all wrong. And it's up to Levy to give Poch the tools to mount a proper challenge. Contracts for Toby and Christian are a must as is finding a better option than Davies offers. COYS

I said it was unlikely, not impossible, but how likely do you think it is Spurs will draw zero games through-out the entire season? How often has the team who has won the title as fewer games than the team in second?

I'd say it was very likely you could lose three more times, highly unlikely you won't pick up even 2-3 draws.

Bruce, who ever thought Leicester would win the title ? Anything is possible in football. Spurs could go the whole season and now draw a game, you just don’t know.
