Xhaka is a better player than most give him credit for. Plus his ability to play every minute of every game is massive. The rest of our squad look drained after 1/3 of a season.

We'll have to upgrade on Xhaka eventually but he's a mile ahead of that moth Mustafi.

Giroud had great fitness, poor striker though. Obviously much better than Xhaka but I'd rather have a decent player who misses 5 games a season than either of them

In what way is Xhaka a better player than we give him credit for? He gives the ball away in dangerous positions without any upside in distributing the ball. He doesn't have the pace to drive from midfield and often lets runners go.

Genuine serious question because I want to have an open mind with him but by patience is being stretched.

You see if you solve Xhaka, then you solve Ozil. And in fact Ozil will help link Laca and Auba if he is given a free role!

The fact the player is fit and able to play is irrelevant. Xhaka isn't good enough for the squad. He's slow, his defensive awareness is poor to the point that is now costs us goals, his passing is average and his goal return is negligible.

He's not even similar to the Giroud situation. Giroud, for all his negatives, was at least an option off the bench which made him an ok squad player.

Apart from the fact he has no other viable choice, I don't see why Emery would pick Xhaka. Even then it's stretching it.

As for Ozil, i cannot understand why he is not even available for squad selection. It's either Ozil or literally no one. We have zero options in that bench. Yes Ozil has had many chances and in most has done little to nothing but not to have him on the bench is criminal. You're not going to get rid of him and the club won't release him so you're cutting your nose to spite your face if you don't at least place him on the bench.

Unless of course Ozil makes a comeback just as the transfer window shuts.

What are the solutions for Ozil's problem?

1. Sell him (Not easy !)
2. Play him (Easy but Emery seems to have lost his patience and putting foot down)
3. Freeze him (easy but we don't have options and financial backbone for that)
4. Terminate his contract (not possible either)

We are in deep $h with his situation. He doesn't wana leave, why he would anyway....gathering huge £$£$ per week and he is already won few trophies.....at age 30 he hardly has any motivation apart from playing that stupid computer game.

We are messed this up even worst than Sanchez, Wilshire and Ramsay situation.

How do you figure that one out?

The problem with Xhaka is the lack of defensive discipline he bring in the side which means we need the attacking midfielder to track part or at least provide some level of defensive discipline.

That problem goes away if you have a CM able to stay disciplined alongside Torreira without the need for the remaining central player to be free on what he should be primarily doing and that's linking up attack.

If we had, say, Verratti in midfield, we can firstly going back to Emery's favored 4-2-3-1 formation, and therefore use Ozil more effectively.

True and that's the kind of player we need. They are rare and expensive though. Not easy to find someone like that.

Just need another Torreira and we'll be

We need another little magician - 22 year old Cazorla !!

We need at least £120m investment for sure (ATM, Winger, CB, LB and decent MF) ...otherwise we will fell short every season...and this is I am talking about challenging for PL not winning it.

Our first XI is good enough to compete but the drop off is drastic once we get a couple of injuries.

Hard to back Emery at the moment. He deserves time but we aren't seeing any signs of anything much at the moment.

Our first XI is at best good enough to compete for Top 4 but that's 3rd/4th spot.

Yeah that's what I meant. Rest of the squad is west ham level.

I can’t remember what Ozil was on previously but say he was on 140k a week, we should have told him we will pay him 170k a week max. Take it or leave it.

Cause 350k is a joke. We will be stuck with flopzil for years
