And our best chance at a title since 61 or Cup since 91. What is that based on? We are 9 points behind Liverpool and are now relying on an injury hit squad for the next 6 or so weeks. And how can being the the 4th round of the cup be our best chance of winning it?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on this being supposedly your best side since 61 - like I said. Didn't the much respected hero of the JA606 Spurs fans Sandy say that you'd easily win the league this season? You've more chance than us I'll grant you that but we are average............ much like yourselves in truth. Difference is that I know we aint all that, Spurs fans delude themselves that this is the second coming of Blanchflower and Dave Mackay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs are not average. Neither are Arsenal really. One is very good and the other is good. Both capable of winning things this season. Averageness should be reserved for mid-table clubs.

No I didn`t say Spurs would easily win the league, you need to back that up with the quote mate, otherwise it will be like you are posting lies. I did say they had a chance, and I still firmly believe without an unprecedented injury list they would have had. Even now they are only behind two clubs, that have had near perfect Prem seasons.

Supposedly the best side since 61 according to who?

Since most of our sides since 61 have been average to decent its not that much of an accolade. And in any case our side has got weaker since 2017 where we had Walker and a fit and inform Dembele (now left) and Wanyama. Also due to our injury crisis its not really accurate to state the 'best side since 61' nonsense because its going to have to be a patched up side that gets us through the next couple of months. We have had to make do with having Son away (twice), Verts and Eriksen previously injured, and now Kane, Alli and Sissoko injured. That is obviously going to significantly weaken us.

As for 'respected hero of the JA606 Spurs fans Sandy', well I think you know you are talking nonsense here. Sandy is the only poster who seriously thinks we can win the league and hardly represents the majority of the Spurs fans' opinion, but I think you already knew that.

Spurs have had plenty of sides since 1961 that have been more than decent.

The 1963 side won the Cup Winners Cup
The 1967 side won the FA Cup
The 1971/72/73 sides won the League Cup, UEFA Cup, League Cup in successive seasons
The 1980s side won two FA Cups and a European Trophy
The 1991 side won the FA Cup

They were far from average sides.

It's not 'unprecendeted injury list Sandy.
EVERY club has injuries, it's because your club didn't back up your squad in the summer, why it's 'unprecedented'. this happens every season to every club, it's how you cope with the injuries that matters.

well yeah but the point of my comment was that for a lot of that time (ie 61 to present) we have had some sides that weren't that great.

Even the mantra 'best side since 61' is debatable because you'd have to have been alive to watch all the sides during that time to make an informed judgement.

In summary, Dan is talking bollox

You did say "Spurs will win the league with a bit to spare".

That would suggest you thought Spurs would easily win the league.

After all, 'with a bit to spare' means you don't need to go all out in your games to win it, or you could win it with some games to spare. Either way that suggests it will be easy.

You may not have used the words easy or easily but what you did say means the same thing.

Im talking about the fact that when players in your first team get injured, the back up brigade is not good enough, and probably should have been improved on a bit in the summer.

Hmm I do occasionally talk schite I'll admit sometimes because I'm simply bored and fancy some bantz. However, I have read on here over the last few years several of your fans saying what a top side you have and Sandy (whether he likesit or not) said that you'd win the league with games to spare. My point was that if you had such a fine side then why haven't you won anything or indeed been to any finals? The fact you haven't means that you aint as good or great as many think you are.

I stand by that and will only change my view when I'm proved wrong and you win something. Oh and whilst I agree you're injury list is really grim it hasn't had much of an impact so far as you have your best points tally for several years and are in the semis of the cup. Still won't win anything though.

yawn......... least if we do win something we wont chuck it in the bin and booooooooo our team 5 months later

-------------------------------
is that the best you've got? reason some of our fans booed Wenger was because an FA cup or 3 isn't enough for a club of our size. Unlike yourselves we know that it is only the league title which makes a good side a great one. Fact we aint won it since 2004 simply aint good enough. Hence why some booed and wanted him gone.

Not good enough for what?

Nobody expected us to win the league, and despite constant injuries to key players all season, we're still comfortably in the top four, which suggests the back up players are good enough.

So, not good enough to achieve what?

--------------------------------------

Well around 2016/17 we were a top side. Achieving 86 points in the league was impressive and we could beat anyone on our day.

I agree we should have been able to win something; possibly mentality comes into it, semi finals of the cup in 17 & 18 and we lost games we could just as easily have won.

It was more bad fortune than anything else that we didn't win the league in 2017 I think; most teams that get 86 points win it. I guess we were unfortunate that Chelsea got 93 points, massively helpd by the fact they were so poor the year before and didn't get into Europe.

Money definitely has had an impact. We have traditionally spent within our means, contrary to the likes of City, Chelsea and now Liverpool and consequently it makes it harder to compete. Who knows, perhaps we'd have been Champions in 2017...

I actually think we've done well to stay where we are while many of our rivals constantly outspend us, both on transfer fees and wages.

Not good enough to push you over the line and win something tangible like the PL,CL or FA Cup, but that's just my opinion, we'll have to wait til May, or maybe earlier, to see if your happy how your season ends.
