Surely top 4 qualification is to build a better team to compete and win trophies. We are missing the njaot part of that equation. A failure of a club.

Really strange. I guess he believes you have a shot at the title otherwise he wouldn't have done it. I suppose you have to look at that as a positive.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right so over halfway thru the season and pool have lost once. Its pretty obvious they are now going to lose at least 3 or 4 games before the end of the season and city are also going to fall to pieces.

Disgraceful IMO to pick a team which you are pretty sure has no chance of winning.

I would consider it a disgrace if it were the last game of the season when we could not move up or down in our league position let alone for the fecking FA Cup

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no idea what you're saying here.

If Levy has hoodwinked you lot into shifting the blame onto Poch then he's pulled off the greatest illusion ever seen.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

No the greatest illusion ever is players needed to be "rested" and you lot fall for it time and time again.

How about those poor players from the conference or non league who work 10 hours a day as say a plasterer then rush off to meet the team bus to take a trup across London to Grays Athletic or somewhere giving it their all only to get home at about 2am needing to be up for work again at 6am.

Bald caant Levy with another masterstroke transfer window.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing to do with Levy, that Pochettino elected not to pick his best available players today. 100 per cent Poch is to blame for the defeat today.

If I was Levy I would have Poch in the office first thing tomorrow, demanding to know why he left some of better players out of the starting Xi, given that Son, Dele and Kane were definitely all missing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I blame Poch as well, but I forgive Poch because of how he is faring in the league with us and continues to get no support from the top.

Err, and Poch should be demanding to know why nothing has been done to try and improve the quality of the squad players in 2 windows now, that he has ultimately had to work with through the injury crisis.

posted on 27/1/19

Poch stuck for words. Keeps saying he is disappointed. Well WTF didn`t you pick your best players?

posted on 27/1/19

absolutely Poch with his team selection had no intent on winning that game, who in there right mind would pair Foyth with Sanchez, then remove Vertonghen and leave them on their own, from what I saw on TV he never got off his arriss to give instructions the whole game, total lack of respect for FA cup and why is Trippier making decisions way above his pay grade had the arm band on at the end too, a total sell out and afraid end of season for Spurs dont even think they will make top 4 now , Poch getting away with too much

Those same player have played a hell of a lot of football in the last 2 months or so. They're all exhausted.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh give it a rest if they want to know tiredness tell them to try being hod carriers for 50 hours a week trying to bring up a young family and struggling to pay the bills if they want to see tiredness
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've heard that sort of line a thousand times before but sorry, players do get tired (esp with the training methods) and there's no greater sign of that than muscle-based injuries. What do you want to do? Shout at the muscles about the wartime spirit and tell them to heal quicker? Overload of games = fatigue = injuries. Whether you like it or not, it's happening.

It is about CL though. Financially it is plus ability to attract better players.

Brainwashed? Wigan won the FA cup and got relegated. Its more important to clubs now to finish higher up in the league. Its the way it is. Money sadly is the problem

Players used to play every minute of every game before substitutions. Some played over 50 full games a season on pitches that resembled ploughed fields.

Modern players are wimpy. No two questions about that.

Problem is the pundits are licking the arris of Poch on the TV as we speak. Not one of them has questioned why Eriksen did not start today, why Rose did not start, why Aurier did not start, etc, etc.

Poch sees the Watford game as more important, hence all the changes.

It`s disappointing to lose but lets be honest we could get as far as the semi final and we would only lose to City, United or Chelsea, so what`s the point, we may as well focus on the CL places, which is essential for long term growth.

We need the CL to help us build a squad capable of competing, at present we don`t have a strong enough squad.

Yeh only because they faced a lot of weakened teams during the run. They would never have won it had teams taken the FA Cup seriously.

I don't like age being a factor in these discussions but you two sound like a right couple of dinosaurs. Did you not consider the intensity of the games, the training, the global travel, 3 games a week. The game is now unrecognisable from the times you're talking about so the comparison is unfair.

You claim they're not tired but muscle injuries are the body's way of telling you it's tired so sorry, you're arguing against science. I know who I'd rather trust.

Back in the early 70s, some of the Spurs players played 60 games in UEFA Cup, League Cup, Fa Cup, replays in those days. There was plenty of games back in the days, and only one sub I think.

The intensity of the game. I take it you didn`t see Spurs first halves against Fulham, Chelsea and today against Palace. Spurs sleepwalked through all three halves of those games. The last thing I noticed was any intensity.

I'm not going to have this debate with you Sandy. We've been here before and, ironically, I find it exhausting. Who knows, I might just get a muscle injury.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And have you not considered that in those days the pitches were 4 times heavier, that all travel was by train and took hours, that there were more games to be played and that your opponents were allowed to kick lumps out of you with no free kicks being given? That the boots were nowhere near as light and easy to wear and that the ball weighed about 4 ton more.

That most clubs had a squad of 15 and that you had to play half the time injured or not.

Thats without the fact that half of them had part time jobs as taxi drivers etc because the wages were average at best.

the selection could have been stronger but the players were a joke.

Foyth and Lamela when he came on were the only ones that came away with any credit whatsoever

--------------------------------------------------------------------

No they got relegated cos they were crap but because clubs like ours "rested" players in cup games even tho you were crap you could still win the cup.
