Arsenal in real danger of slipping into a second group of teams at this rate

It is the Sun though. Most likely a story put there by someone putting pressure on the owner.

You're gonna get left behind.

Arsenal really need to start winning trophies like Spurs and Liverpool have or they will be left behind. If you do not win things, you will be left behind.

To be fair, given you spend a lot on wages, after all costs £40m transfer budget seems reasonable. I am assuming you can add money from sales too.

How much would you expect to be left in the budget?

£40m more than us

I don't know why so many people keep posting this. And I have no idea where these journalists have got this £40m figure from. As if the club are going to leak their Summer transfer budget to those lot...

Assuming we don't get CL football this season:

Lichtsteiner, Cech, Ramsey and Welbeck will all be leaving the club in the Summer at the VERY least. That is half a million pounds a week in wages saved right there.

We will be getting around £80m-£90m from the sponsorship and kit deal renewals in the Summer too.

Then there will be player sales e.g. Elneny, Jenkinson, maybe Mustafi too, who has been linked with clubs in Italy for the last year or so.

To conclude, I am fairly certain we will be spending more than £40m in the Summer on players.

This isn't actually true. *If* the recruitment budget is indeed £40m, player acquisitions are very rarely paid in one lump sum.

Arsenal could in theory spend £100m on players depending on contractual arrangements with player/seller.

That's good. You need 9 new players to replace the rubbish in your starting line-up.

From the same sources that said we had a budget of £50m only for us to spend 33% more.

£40m doesn't sound a lot, but it is more than the average net spend of all but the Mancs and Chelsea anyway.

Wow, yet Man Utds mega expensive line up is only a point ahead of us

We already do win trophies, certainly more than Liverpool and Tottenham that's for sure. This is totally down to an owner who is not interested in the club that's why we are falling behind.

That's because Jose's third season syndrome kicked in. You can thank him for that. He got the sack and now we're ahead of you.

A Man U supporter thinking their club has had as much upheaval this season than Arsenal have.

Classic.

yeah but at least they know they have some top quality in the squad / team, which was being badly managed.

Arsenals team looks very average, needs 5 or 6 new first teamers and UE has done well to get them where they are, but now Utds inherent quality is showing.

Personally I think it’s fair to say that Man Utd’s squad needs a lot less work than Arsenal’s and that the reason they’re both failing this season is very different.

All a matter of opinion though.

Last summer when I heard that we would only have £70m to spend I said to myself, Na that can't be right. I was wrong.

This January when I heard that we had nothing to spend and only loans, I said to myself, Na that can't be right. I was wrong.

Now I'm hearing that we only have £40m to spend next summer. WTF.

All of the Kroenke lovers you need to get the phuuck outta here with Kroenke. FFS.

Interesting Arseblog interview with David Ornstein, talking about all things Arsenal - amongst them the window just gone, the possible budgets for the summer (with and without CL qualification), summer transfer targets, behind the scenes power moves... it’s all there.

Werent we supposed to be financially competitive after the stadium payments were reduced. Yet wont even be able to compete with mid table clubs.

With Bayern, who had a massive profit in transfers last summer...

£40m is so much money.

Ornstein says £100m pre-sales. But I am sure the OP and the like minded will ignore this.

Are you an idiot?
I'm saying the reason why where we are is due to Jose doing his third season routine. He's left and we're seeing what most of us thought we were capable of.

How many of your first 11 would get into the first 11 of the sides above you?
