Rangers would struggle for mid table in the Championship, Nothing to do with managerial capabilities, just the strength of the SPL.

Yeah...Derby will really take make it in Europe

The dynamic of the Championship and Scottish Premiership are very different. Lampard has taken over a very good Derby side, who have always been challenging for titles in that league. The Championship is full of decent teams with no world class teams and no rubbish ones (apart from Ipswich, Bolton, Reading, Rotherham, Millwall, Wigan, Brentford, Stoke, Sheff W, QPR, Preston, Blackburn, Hull, Swansea, Villa, Forest, Birmingham, Bristol City, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Sheff U, Leeds and Norwich). So apart from against those teams, there are no easy games.

Stephen Gerard took over a garbage Rangers side who have never won or challenged for the title in The Scottish Premiership. In that league there are 2 or 3 world class teams (Celtic, Dundee, Aberdeen) who are always going to be challenging for the title, so it is almost impossible to break that triopoly. There may be some garbage teams like Hamilton and St Mirren, but every other week you are playing a top class team.

Scholes is giving himself the biggest challenge, in the pressure cooker at Oldham. That puts him above the others for me.
