Gomes and Our 2nd/3rd team....

RRP is doing so solely on the fact that Coulibaly is the same height as him. One growth spurt and you watch how fickle he is.

Don :

Yet reading the words of Spurcat, you get to understand that his progress has been gradual, and measured (where he was loaned to, when etc) .

The thing is that whilst Coulibaly looks a real gem i think we should be a little cautious about it because it wasn't long ago we were all pushing for Kane to play more often. He got his chance and has looked like a rabbit in the headlights ever since. Coulibaly may be different but there's a big, big difference in turning out for a pressureless reserve kids game and joining up with the first team for a frosty European game. The kid is still only 16. Yes, Rooney managed it but Rooney is a player that comes along once in a blue moon. I'd only give Coulibaly a run out from the bench if we're 3-0 up in a game for the last 10 minutes. Give him the experience without the pressure.

Exactly fridgeboy, but atleast he is getting some sort of chance that way. I'm not saying stick him in the first 11 with Adebayor but have him as a last resort back up and use him for the last 10mins of games we are winning or if we need an extra striker on to push on for something

I know for a fact that RRP agrres with me and actually wants Coulibaly as back up in the first team

Don - You always seem to catch me at lunch time

Of course i agree ... and thanks for sticking up for me, that RDBD can be a right bully

Last time I throw out a "Foxy" THudd defence for you.

And stay out my larder !!!
Just went into the old jar of semi solid honey.
And "RRP was here" is scraped into the bottom.

I was hoping that would be the League Cup games (I think Spurcat was saying he is not currently eligible for the Europa squad) .

To be fair i still have that jar of honey at home, i will take your advice though, i will wait until it softens a bit, failing that i will wack it in the microwave

Would be disrespectful to the 1 million Bee's who worked for the one jar of honey

Spot on Messiah, a keeper needs to be more than just being able to pull off top class saves every now and then

At least we got 1 good season out of him eh? Unfortunately it seems as though he's added to the trend of Brazilians that haven't been able to cut it in the PL longterm. I hope Sandro doesn't go the same way.

Not trying to be funny here Don, but I told you this about Gomes two years ago and you had a right go at me.

I have no idea how he performed last night because I haven't seen any of it, but whatever I think of Gomes, I wouldn't dream of slaughtering him on the strength of a radio commentary or Sky Sports watching it on TV in a studio. Just a thought

Look Spurcat, during that period i rated Gomes and felt he was a real asset to the team ( he was for a season) but now i feel he is a complete liability and got worse, everyone changes there mind just like you have with Adebayor

posted on 22/9/11

Oh and i never slaughtered him purely based just on the radio commentary, i was just pointing out what i have seen in him for the past year with my own eyes and how judging by the pundits on Sky etc it seems to have continued

But if these sceanrios dont happen, we've then got a 16yr old on the bench instead of a senior player who could make a difference.

Its all well & good wanting to see new potential come through but you only need to look at the stick Harry has got for fielding a weakened team in a 0-0 draw in a CC tie to see what reaction he would get if we lost points due to using a 16yr old in the squad, instead of an experienced player.

At this stage in his career, if we dont need to use him, then i dont think we should - not in the EPL anyway.
