As alternative hydrogen cell car..
"Hyundai Nexo is by far the most accomplished hydrogen fuel cell car. It's one of the best models in its category full stop, and probably our favourite zero-emission car of all time. Sales will commence in Britain at the start of 2019, 500mile range"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hydrogen is dead on arrival. It'll never work and the three closest stations are Aberdeen, Orkney and Sheffield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats incorrect.

Because of who I work for, I can get large discounts (around 20-25%)of Jaguar/Land Rover/Range Rover new car prices, and around (15-20%) off Nissan too, lots of workmate's have been snapping up those Jag F-Pace models but the depreciation in the first year alone is horrendous, the best models to look at would be the Evoque, but second year road tax is around £450
I'll probs get another beemer

Care to expand on that? Because I've looked into hydrogen technology a fair bit and it's just not going to happen.
There's no place to fill up being the obvious issue at the moment. Terrible advice suggesting anyone even think about buying a hydrogen car.
I've got a Dadmobile: Vauxhall Zafira. Got it begrudingly as needed something big and cheap. You want to know the funny thing? It's probably the best car I've owned. Surprisingly quick, heated seats, cheap to own/run. I've had an Audi TT, Polo, Fabia, Ka, Mondeo, Tigra.

If you've got off-street parking then consider electric or plug-in hybrid, or if your workplace has a charging point. If you end up going full greenie and getting solar panels you can cut your fuel bills down to almost nothing. Shame only the wealthy can afford to save money at the moment!
What are your other needs - boot space, kids, range, comfort, price range, new/used etc.? There's a lot of choice around at the moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Comfort is important, boot space not so much, child is now a teenager, price, I want to spend max £350 a month, fuel economy is a must, also been tempted by the cx-5

Your fair bit needs improving then. Public use transport infrastructure and solutions are going to start to shift some over to hydrogen, thinking London taxis too.
There will be an expansion to the hydrogen network and it is incorrect for you to profess to know about the network being in Aberdeen, Orkney and Sheffield when it is easy to find where new stations are on the Internet. See below from itm power who are bringing hydrogen filling to Shell stations.
http://www.itm-power.com/h2-stations
It really will be a viable alternative. Also Japanese and Korean manufacturers are heavily invested in this technology.
Couldn't argue against Mazda when it comes to reliability. In my life my dad's owned two 626s, a Xedos 6, a Mazda 6 and 3 MX-5s, whilst my mum's had two 323s and MX-3 and a Mazda 3. The only issues have been an over-sensitive alarm in the first MX-5 and a slightly temperamental electric window in the second one.
As depressing it is as a car enthusiast, if you're after comfort then crossovers make sense. Suffer a bit on the fuel economy side as they're heavier and less aerodynamic but overall are sensible, practical cars.
If you're not entirely sure what you're after it's always worth taking a weekend to test drive a bunch of different things and compare them.
I had Renault Zoe for two years when they first came out. it was a leap of faith at the time but we needed a second car.
They were doing am incredible deal to try a get them on the roads. £79 per month for the far and £70 per month for the battery.
They installed a charging point in my drive free if charge.
Roughly 80 miles before having to charge.
it was a brilliant second car and we used it more like a main car. we used the other car fur longish motorway journeys.
It was PCP and we handed it back after 2 years.
we missed ircsi much I went back to get another one 6 moths later but the combined package is now £279 per month.
As for running costs and reliability? it was a couple of quid to charge and never had a problem with it.

According to that map, if you live in Scotland you have a choice of Orkney or Sheffield. It doesn't even show the Aberdeen stations.
Hydrogen has been "going to start" for over a decade now and we're still nowhere near practical use. Compare that to the improvement in electric cars and infrastructure in the last decade.
The reason Japanese and Koreans are keen on hydrogen is they have massive methane hydrate reserves that will need to be tapped into if we move to a hydrogen economy. The vast majority of hydrogen gas produced comes from steam reforming methane into hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The very obvious problem there is that you're producing the same amount of CO2 as if you just burned the methane. You can produce hydrogen cleanly by splitting water, but it's an energy-intensive process so hardly any place does it. You'd need to build a lot of hydrogen plants to get the hydrogen revolution going.
There are numerous other issues with hydrogen. You have to compress it to 700 bar which takes energy you never get back. You have to transport it in incredibly heavy gas cylinders, so transport to fuelling stations is impractical. Fuel cells themselves are only around 50% efficient - far lower than battery efficiencies. Overall, it's a more complicated and less efficient process than a battery car.
For very large commercial vehicles and possibly large public transport, hydrogen is feasible. For private cars it's a complete non-starter.
