Always a danger when THAT much is at certain peoples disposal
One of those stories you just wish you'd not read about.... shocking
Just read it, was about to create an article about it.
Very disappointing!
The amount appears to be in excess of £140,000!
If it was for a short period of time, then one could argue this was due to the stress and unfortunate circumstances, but it appears to have occurred over a period of more than a year!
I hate to say this, but I never really bought into the way Toby's name was being pushed onto players and club at every opportunity.
Obviously very sad to see any child lose their life and one hopes that Mum's actions are just because of the stress and horror of a situation that no parent should ever find themselves in.
I know she has suffered a devastating loss that we all sympathise with but extreme Grief and loss are sadly no excuse for an adult to steal from her son's cancer fund and she needs to be punished accordingly and also get some professional help for her gambling addiction.
Addiction is a terrible thing and can make people do stupid things
But deserves a custodial sentence
Going off on a tangent here, but how long will it take the FA/FL/PL before they ban gambling advertising on shirts, etc?
This sort of gambling is an illness. Like drugs and alcohol - some just can’t stop once they start.
Football is a massive user of gambling companies but I fear it’s a ticking time bomb.
It’s hard to judge but easy to blame.
I listened to Radio Leeds the other month and they had a guy on who was an addict. He stole £thousands to feed it and admitted if he hadn’t been caught he would still be doing it. He now helps gambling addicts.
Sad.
He did get a custodial as he stole so much.
In this situation, she needs help.

Totally agree with this !
I can see both sides to this.
However what is forgotten is the damage this does to other charity organisations. There are already many sceptical people out there who refuse to give to charity for these very problems and it only makes more people give less. The next little ill child may suffer as a result of this woman’s actions.
