Feels like I played the game before watching the gameplay. Far too unoriginal for my liking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh this.
At the moment I just see FarCry x The last of Us. Don't get me wrong nothing wrong with that, and it's probably right up my street since I would say my favourite zombie slaying simulator is Dead Island. And adding in more survival stuff is exactly what I like. However, with the plethora of amazing other games it's not something I am going to be rushing out to buy.
I should be looking forward to it more than I am. Like Simon says it should tick all the boxes for me but i just dont feel that enthusiastic for it. I will wait for it to drop in price before getting it.
I was really looking forward to this game three years ago after it was first announced and presented at an E3 conference. They have delayed and delayed the release though so many times that I'm not as bothered anymore.
I like the look of this , point shoot kill walkers good times

Rather a delayed release than a rushed release, meaning an unfinished, buggy, sheet game ala FIFA every year or no man's sky

Agree with this, Sony would sooner delay a release, than let an unfinished game onto the market. it improves their reputation for quality, and gamer's are not left disappointed.

Oh I agree; but three years is a bit long and makes me think the game was more buggy than a stagnant pond at dusk.
Given the fuss made about it at E3 in 2016 and the hype they built around it; its not difficult to see how a three year delay would cause a loss of interest.
You can't have it all ways Tamwolf, you either give the developers the time they need, or you accept below par games.
To be fair 3 years is about the time needed to create a AAA game, so it isn't that far behind. Unlike say Dreams which was touted for the PS3 and then shifted to PS4, and we still have no release date. Now that is dedication to quality.
Was it delayed 3 years? I remember thats when we first heard about it - thought it was just delayed from last year?

I don’t need to have it all ways. Developers shouldn’t announce a game with gameplay footage, that isn’t ready and is then going to be delayed for three years from that announcement. People will lose interest.
I know you love to defend developers, but they made a massive error hyping it up when they did. They have lost all momentum created from that and are having to start again.

They announced it at E3 2016 with gameplay footage. I believe the initial date they gave for release was October 2016 and it have been moved back repeatedly since then.
I remember the dates because I moved jobs in July 2016, so E3 came round that year when I was working my notice period. I sat and watched most of the presentations on YouTube at work.

Really I don't remember that at all. Just early game play footage of the game in Alpha....
And just looking the game started dev in 2015 which means there was never a 2016 release date. At the earliest would have been 2018
I think we simply need to disagree Tamwolf. I'm sure they have targets for a games release, but if the game isn't ready, then I applaud them for not rushing a game out.
It's not an exact science, people would equally lose interest in an unfinished and buggy game, although I accept the point you make, I think the developers are right to delay.

They definitely did not set a 2018 release date, otherwise I would be bothered about the delays. The YouTube video description reckons 2017 and March 2017 rings a bell.

I agree they did the right thing if the game was buggy, although some of the delays this year are actually because they didn’t want to release at the same time Anthem or other games that create competition. That said, it doesn’t mean they did the right thing in announcing when they did or that fans won’t lose interest and they lose all the momentum they originally generated.
Rockstar got it spot on with RDR2 and keeping their cards close to their chest. If developers are going to start using E3 to showcase games that won’t be ready for 3 or more years, then I will lose interest in that event too.
E3 will be a less interesting this year, as Sony are not attending.

And this is also happening with Death Stranding. Kojima or not, It seriously needs to go dark for a couple of years.
Last of us has done pretty well I think - just a few things.
But yeh I think Sony made a bit of a boo boo in 2016 and shared too much with us - seemed amazing at the time but when Dev times for most triple As are hitting around 5 - 6years there is definitely a case of too soon.
Fallout 4 is still the one to beat re the perfect reveal and launch in this modern era
