Fair play Sandy, but I still think football these days is of higher standard. Players back in your day could smoke, drink alcohol etc and still be dominant ( Gearge Best ), not denying they weren’t good players, but players of today in terms of athletes etc is a lot stronger. Just my personal opinion, but obviously as a younger generation football fan, I’m probably a little biased.

He is the exact opposite of the spurs players. An absolute winner who also shows up in the big occasions. Whereas out lot fold like a piece of paper at crunch time
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Was Barca away not a big crunch game?

What about Inter and Dortmund at Wembley? and PSV?

Selective fecking memories!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Barca away... we saved by Inter completely facking up their game... we needed a win at Nou Camp to qualify without help, so I'm not having that.

Dortmund.. we were underdogs in the tie... nothing to lose... and that's actually why we are usually decent in the CL... we love being underdogs. cant deal with the expectancy.

we have lost about 10 FA Cup semi finals in a row, and collapsed in the league more times than I wish to remember... there is no way that those are overcome just because we beat inter, psv, real madrid last year...

what happened in the Juve game? after the first leg we should have finished the job and we got completely schooled in the second game.

SO you have an excuse for every game we did well in high pressure difficult situations but accept no excuses for losing games in high pressure difficult situations

vs Barca....if we had not drawn in the Nou, we would have been eliminated. Wll done Spurs for getting a point at Barca where few teams get a sniff, let alone a point

Dortmund....underdogs WTF has that got to do with our quality performance. Nothing to lose YEs we did, we had a place in teh next round to lose, elimination from the Cup. We didnt play in a "nothing to lose all guns blazing fashion", it was a quality well executed clinical performance. The away leg was a top drawer European away performance. Well done Spurs

Collapsed in the league Every game is a massive game. Every game a must win...so miserable sods store up their "we bottle it everytime" until we lose....matters not if its Saints or United, if they beat us, we blew it! We didnt blow up in the league this season or last season...look at our run-ins we won. we went something like WLWWWWWWWWLWWW in 2016/17 from feb onwards and something like DWWWWWWWLDWLWW last season. That aint blowing up....that's as good as you've ever had it.

Juve game....yes, we let a great position slip. Guess what? We've learned. We've progressed and were clinical vs Dortmund this year. We've gone Groups, Ko stage, now QFs at least. Progress.

We have the same points as at ths point last season and 3 pts off what we had in our best PL season the year before.

No problems Don, you are entitled to your opinion. I much preferred the football back in the day, much more interesting than today`s mainly pass, pass, pass stuff played on perfect pitches with hardly a tackle in sight. We will have to agree to disagree.

Sandy still hankers after the days of Sir Stanley Mathews,
knighted during his playing career.
Unfortunately a little later, during the mid fifties if I remember correctly,
the Hungarians - the Puskas gang - came to Wembley and taught the Birtish a lesson in football.
And the game has never been to Sandy's liking ever since.
