It’s very likely that Liverpool will open up a 2 point gap at weekend, which will last a couple of weeks until we play our game in hand.

I wonder if people will consider Liverpool as being top with a two point lead, or will it be some sort of paradox until we play our game in hand

“It’s very likely that Liverpool will open up a 2 point gap at weekend, which will last a couple of weeks until we play our game in hand.“

Exactly,

Weeks between you catching up the game in hand.

Hours between the two sides playing in that weeks round of games.

I never knew there was a timescale between a points difference actually counting 😂

City went into the game against Southampton 10 points behind Liverpool. We will likely go into our game against Fulham 2 points behind Liverpool. It literally is what it is.

By the time both teams had played that weekends round of games the gap was 7 points no?

Totally different to a game in hand played weeks later.

“By the time both teams had played that weekends round of games the gap was 7 points no? ”

And by the time we play it could be back to 1 in our favour. Or does that work differently because it surpasses 12 hours?

Obviously that 12 hours between matches means a lot to you. Well you, United fans and some random Dutch lad

Person engages in debate on Internet forum

“The 10 point gap” that people keep going on about wasn’t ever 10 points by the time both teams had played that weekend.

True or false?

That’s irrelevant. Our players went into the game with a 10 point deficit. I doubt the team talk was “don’t worry it will only be 7 by the time we’ve both played this weekend”

I don’t think the players would’ve given it that much thought.

Some fans on here though are insistent it was 10 points. Why do you think that is?

posted on 13/3/19

Do you think there is any psychological advantage to playing first? Or having a game in hand? Or do you think it doesn’t matter?

Shouldn’t be a problem for City who have the best manager, best team and best squad.

It helps if you play on out of form Southampton who are close to/in the relegation places.

posted on 13/3/19

Right so given Fulham our out of form and close to relegation actually Liverpool have 76 points and City have 77 points.

Tell me something. How long was there a 10 point gap in the league?

posted on 13/3/19

All people have said is at one point it was 10 points. Doesn’t fecking matter how long it was for 😂

Long enough for there to be a TEN POINT GAP. Games innhand make no difference. The gap was 10 points.

Yep United fans are saying it to say we bottled a ten point lead

Apparently being 10 points ahead for less than 12 hours had a psychological affect on the City players as well.

In the big scheme of the title race is us being ahead by 10 points for a short period of time significant?

posted on 13/3/19

All I’ve said is that there was a 10 point lead. Which there was. Couldn’t care less about some complex you’ve developed about United fans saying you bottled it.

posted on 13/3/19

P.s I think playing a day before definitely has an affect

posted on 13/3/19

I'm still trying to work out how Liverpool were 10 points ahead of us for (only) 12 hours.

Did we play a game at 3.00 am or something?

So there was a 10 point gap then
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know Spurs fans count how long they were top of the table in minutes.

Never expected City fans to count a gap in points in the hours between each team play
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats exactly how the media report it. City goes 10 points clear. Liverpool can reduce the gap back to 7 points tomorrow against xxxx.

9 points clear from 2nd, 10 points from City

Seems a strange thing for the bindipper to be arguing the toss over
Liverpool were 10 points ahead and have had a touch of the Tottenham’s since
