Racist chants

Unfortunately I don't see anyone stopping Racist chanting anytime soon. Only real deterrent in points deduction for the club, but that'll never happen.

For me the only answer is for more stewarding and if anyone is caught doing it they are ejected immediately and banned for life. Would soon stop
=======
In England it might help, but no chance of identifying and chucking out the guilty in countries like Italy.

Fifa need to step in and grow a pair here. Put out a tough measure that if clubs don’t act to eject racist morons then the club will be banned from Europe or something. Got to get tough here, racism is the most ignorant of human traits

I'm assuming you're article is based on the monkey chants aimed at Moises Kean by Cagliari fans, right?

There's the problem with your idea. Cagliari are a nothing side and probably haven't qualified for Europe in years.

Points deduction is the only way. All this walking away from games and stadium bans are all pointless posturing from Fifa/Uefa.

Also do you take into account the number of fans identified doing it when deciding the club penalty.

For example should a club where five fans are identified doing racial chants faced a heavier penalty than a club where one is identified?

Points deduction should be a last resort. I would force a team to play behind closed doors before a points deduction.

The bigger issue is that it is a cultural problem, and certain countries FAs have no intention of stopping it.

Heavy fines for the club and point deduction. Only way this will stop. Far too much leniency by football authorities right now, they need to act quick and fast.

The individuals doing it need to be punished more than the club and the rest of the fans via points deductions. Who is to say someone couldn't pretend to be fans of a club just so they can make racist chants and get that club a points deduction?

Perhaps they need to encourage other fans around them to come forward and identify the racists?

posted on 3/4/19

Those monkey chants aimed at Kean from Cagliari fans weren't individuals Spurtle. They were large sections of the fans. How are you going to pick them out for individual punishment?

With Racist chants you either go all the way with the punishment or not at all.

Behind closed doors, theyll soon stop, if they dont others will take action into their own hands so id imagine.

I don't understand why racist gets all the publicity, when sizeism, ageism, folliclism and intelligism are all equally bad surely. All "isms" should be equally abhorred.
If Danny Rose does something bad on the pitch and someone shouts "you useless, fat, knut" we should be punished with the full force of the football authorities.
What about homophobia, Lloris facks up again and someone shouts you useless straight goalie, that's terrible (I am assuming he's straight, I really don't know).
So let's not overegg the racism pudding here.
If someone in the street calls me an old, fat, bald, monochromatically-challenged knut, which word(s) offends me the most ? For a start the first three and not out and out lies. I'll give you a clue, it isn't the ones that refer to my skin tone. I generally prefer the tanned look anyway so try to avoid looking too pale.
So, from now on, only "positive abuse" will be allowed.

Leonardo Bonucci said after the match his team-mate should shoulder some of the blame for his celebration.

The defender said: "There were racist jeers after the goal, Blaise heard it and was angered. I think the blame is 50-50, because Moise shouldn't have celebrated like that and the Curva should not have reacted that way.

"We are professionals, we have to set the example and not provoke anyone."

Now I dont know if there is something lost in translation here but fking hell - for a senior teammate of Keane to be coming out with that shows you the extent of the problem there.

Points deductions are the only way forward. The clubs would start taking it seriously and the fans would actually be accountable for their disgraceful actions.

Obviously it's not fair on 99% of the normal fans but strong measures like this are the only way to tackle the problem.

We need to get our own house in order before preaching to other countries. We have seen incidents at Milwall, Spurs and Chelsea and fek all has been done about it with the clubs.

I just said above, what if a group of rival supporters get into the ground just so they can pretend to shout racist abuse to get a points deduction?

The crime doesn't fit the punishment at all, as your punishing an awful lot of innocent people for the sake of a few idiots. Need to find a way to target the individuals and ban them for life before anything else.

Its crazy.

There are racist elements in football leadership in such countries who don't really see it as being as much of a problem as we do.

For them its not greater than the game, this racism business.

The difference is that for me, a game being stopped and points deducted for racism is not punishment. I dont see it as punishment.

If match going Liverpool fans continually abuse black players over a sufficient period of time without heeding any warnings, then I will gladly take that points deduction and hope those idiots feel the pain.
