DL11

Do you think that the likes of Terry, Lampard, Mourinho and Hazard are ‘delusional maniacs’?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think/know they're talking about those big European nights that have been talked about for weeks prior and there's been hype surrounding the game due to the size of it.

Do you really think all those people you've referenced are referring to those run of the mill games v the likes of Wigan, QPR, Southampton, Cardiff etc, where we all know how ordinary the atmosphere is?

Anfield is the same as most other grounds in the country post all seating - bigger the game the better the atmosphere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one would deny the atmosphere can be flat against teams like Cardiff et al. Especially early kick offs.

However I’ve not seen anyone claim the atmosphere at those games is on a par with the atmosphere at Napoli (who I’m sure are prone to the same thing against the smaller teams in Seria A).

DL11 seems to be under a different impression though. I’m sure he’ll be able to prove it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't know why people get spikey about it to be honest, Stamford Bridge can be dull at times and rocking at others. That's just the way it is and I don't see it ever returning to how it used to be in the days of terraces were groups of friends and like minded people can gather together and sing till their hearts content and not have to be bothered by stewards telling you to sit down or be thrown out.

I know what the OP is on about although he's probably gone about it in a bit of a provocative manner.

Oh yeah I agree. The days of standing on The Kop the atmosphere was a lot better. But would it not be the same back then playing a Luton Town or Oxford Utd for example?

Not really, even in the dark days of Division 2 playing the likes of York City, with just 20,000, The Shed would make more noise than 41,000 all seared fans now, even for one of the more attractive fixtures.

You have been asked to prove the lies you've spent 2 days posting yet...

I didn't realise until just now that the 11 in your username was referring to your IQ.

Correct BUT it went up on 9th, today is 10th that means this thread has comments posted over 2 days, 9th & 10th.

This is an irrefutable fact.

You spent some of yesterday & some of today posting lies, 2 days.

You posted lies on Tuesday & more lies on Wednesday, 2 days.

No matter how you want to look at it idiot, you have been telling lies over a period of 2 days.

As I said the 11 in your username refers to your IQ, although the way you keep replying and making yourself look even more stupid, I think you may have been exaggerating a little.

That should have read 'seated' fans, not seared.

I know Old Ken liked his electric fences but I don't think he'd had gone as far as searing his fans!

Nah I can't agree with this I'm afraid. There are other sides in European who match Liverpool in terms of atmosphere on big occasions, clubs like Dortmund, Napoli, Marseille & Galatasaray spring to mind, but Liverpool are definitely in that conversation.

I still largely attribute those wins against us in 2005 & 2007 to the atmosphere on the nights. We had the better team, better manager and were routinely beating them in the league at the time (in matches without Essien & Ferreira at CB). During Mourinho's reign that only seemed to beat us when their crowd were up for it, can't be a coincidence.

I think that's the whole point the OP is making though Devil.

He said their atmosphere doesn't match up with other teams in Europe, I'm saying they do. They're not head and shoulders above others (as some would like to believe), but they're up there as one of the best.

But he's also commented on the comparison between a Big game and a run of the mill game which can be like chalk n cheese.
