I think the Ticket Exchange is a great idea, but should operate the same way as normal tickets. Give members a window of a few days to use it and then return those tickets to General Sale.
I’m a ST holder and my old man managed to get a ticket off the Exchange, having missed out from the circle of death, to join me tomorrow. I’m then on holiday for 10 days and sadly missing the Brighton and West Ham games, so will be putting my ticket on the Exchange to give another fan the chance to attend.
IMO these two examples illustrate how well the Exchange can work. I’d never choose to miss a home game, but the truth is that sometimes life gets in the way, especially with all these rearrangements and TV schedule changes.
I was in the same boat Steve. I was on the waiting list with my son for 5 or so years. I will go to as many games as I can. My son cannot make the Brighton game so I'm taking a mate instead, this happens. I have sympathy with Sandy that one or two days isn't enough time for many fans but as they say, you pays your money you takes your choice. I'm an 1882 member so I'd lose £15 on a category c game (plus the fiver for putting it on TE) if I put it on the exchange as the 'extras' are not transferable anyway. I think Spurs might need to revisit this if it results in a lot of spare seats.
Just gone online to look at availability for Huddersfield. There are loads of singles (say 100?) dotted about through the exchange. Couldn't see a pair anywhere but even so - how good is that? People who were previously fearing they couldn't get to games cos of the number of season ticket holders but they can through the exchange. Those seats wouldn't have been available to them before.
I’ve noticed they are selling the bottom two rows in the north stand for this game
I would say there’s easy 500 odd on the web site to be sold

Same here. Whilst I do get the frustration, In my eyes most of the moaners had the same choice as me and you. I was in "wave 7" of 8, so there were something like 35000 before me on the list and at least 5000 after me. If you were one of those 40000 + and chose not to take up the offer of a guaranteed S/T at the new stadium 2 years ago, then, I am sorry, but that is their lose and really can't moan now when they can't get a ticket if they chose to stay as a member at that time.

Very good point.
I find it unbelievable that people who have not paid £1000 a year for the past three years for a ST are complaining that they can go online and legally buy a resale ticket at face value a few days before a match 😂😂😂
And all they have to do for the privilege is pay £40 a year to be a member
I find it unbelievable that people who have been paying £1000 a year and complaining about going to Wembley and want to be back home are selling there tickets 3 games in.
MK. If football is all you have in your life then you've made some bad decisions.
Life gets in the way. I have a 6 month old, so funnily enough I can't go to c 25 games a year any longer.

Don't really agree Sandy on some of this.
Like a lot of season ticket holders, I started out as a member and joined a waiting list with around 35000 in front of me, but knowing I would get a chance to get hold of a S/T when the new stadium came along. How many others chose not to do this and are now unhappy.
Like a lot of others, I put up with Wembley for a year, then another 9 months, because I knew eventually I would get my S/T at the new stadium.
The fact is I would never have got to the top of the list at the old WHL in a million years.
I agree we all pay through the nose for the privilege, but like every one else, if I give up my S/T just because I can't get to every game, I would never get a chance to buy another one in the future.
I attend around 75% of home games, and don't pick and choose due to the opposition, eg I am going to the Huddersfield game.
Like others, I simply have other commitments in life on occasional match days that prevent me from going. It does not make me any less a supporter.
To say people should be forced to give up their S/T simply because they have things come up outside of football, is ridiculous. That person has joined the waiting list, paid their money, and frankly are not simply gonna give it up to please others.
Whilst there are always individual circumstances, surely the people now moaning ( at every home
game ) that they can't get a ticket, should have joined the waiting list, and chosen to take up the S/T offer 2 years ago like the rest of us.
The ticket exchange system is a positive step to ease some of this issue, but bottom line has always been that none S/T holders will always be down the list for match day tickets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not everybody can afford season tickets mate. Look not having a go at season ticket holders that do not go, but surely if you want a season ticket, then why would you miss a quarter of the games through other commitments. Surely you know that for 19 days of the year, you will be attending Tottenham Football games when you buy it. Not a lot of days out of 365 days of the year. Why not just be a member, lot cheaper, and then take your chance like the rest of us on the games that perhaps you can go to?
You buy your season ticket before the fixtures are announced. You may already have plans on those dates.
Games get moved. You may already have plans on those dates.
You might become unwell. You can no longer make the match.
Something else unforseen comes up. You can no longer make the match.
Why are you complaining? It now means that you have an opportunity for a ticket that you didn't have previously?

Not complaining mate, but it doesn`t really make it easier for me to get a ticket, because they go on so late. If they were to go on at the time of ticket sales then fine.
Is it not a nice hark back to days when you turned up on the day, Sandy?

By the law averages the bigger the stadium the more this will happen. I don't find it surprising that a 12.30 ko against a relegated team has a few hundred knock backs.
As has already been said the days of buying a ST and knowing what day/time most games would be played are long gone.
I agree that there are too many season tickets. I got a season ticket last year for the first time since I was a kid, but the previous few years was a member and managed to get to the majority of matches. Arsenal and Chelsea were the only games it was really difficult to get to.
The exchange is a good idea, but without having gone on it I am assuming it's mainly just single tickets? Whereas selling it blocks allows people to go with their friends.
I do find it odd people buy a season ticket without the intention of going to virtually every match. Even last year at Wembley I went to every match except for a game I was on holiday for. I personally love games like Huddersfield, we are more likely to win!
