Aye Emery is a puzzling manager. Which is why we're right in the fight for top 4, in the semi of Europa, got more points now than we did all season and Emery won more games in his first 50 games than any other arsenal manager. Aye.

It's a team that raises a lot of eyebrows, but to be fair to Emery, with the fixture list and the injuries we have, there are going to be occasions where he's going to have to make some questionable team selections.
I'm not saying I agree with his selection entirely, but his hand is forced to done degree trying to balance all the games we've had (and still have) to play recently.
And for all of Jenkinson's flaws, when he did used to play regularly for us, he was very quick and a good one on one defender, so whilst I'm not exactly confident with the prospect of him vs Zaha, hopefully Emery has seen signs in training that he can step up today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Torreira missed 3 matches recently with suspension (which seemed like forever), so should be better rested than most of the team. I can't see any rational excuse for leaving him out to deploy the same midfield duo in Gwen and Elneny that was completely overwhelmed against Everton. What's the point in that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not comfortable with our midfield either, and ultimately we don't know what is being seen on the training ground, communicated by physios etc, but hes reportedly been carrying a groin problem the last couple of games.
Given Ramsey's injury, I don't really think there's a game we can afford to drop Torreira for, but if there's still a niggle, perhaps it's felt this is the safest game to rest him a let him recover, rather than risking him exacerbating something and potentially losing him for longer.
As I say, I'm not saying I'm happy with this team selection either, and obviously we can't know for sure what's happening behind the scenes, but just noting that the reasons for some of his selections may be more than just tactical.
