Sandy, you do wind me up sometimes

Liverpool players can still be some of the best performers of the season whether they win the league or not. VVD is the best defender in the league and is better than City's CBs regardless of who wins it!

On the Son issue, I love the guy, but the three forwards are

Aguero
Sterling
Mane

Has be been better than those three?

Sterling, no way.

Aguero, league's top scorer, 19 goals, so no.

Mane... hmmm, it's close. But he has 18 goals to Son's 12, and is in the team competing for the league. Some of Son's best games have been in Europe. I still think Mane edges this one.

Son is brilliant. He's had some outstanding games. But I think those three have had better seasons.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about these awards. They are given to the familiar names for marketing purposes, invented someone in the marketing department and dos not reflect football, most of the time.

Team of the season should include the following players too, who have done so well in a less expensive outfits, unlike City or Liverpool:

Moutinho, Neves and Jimenez from Wolves. Maddison from Leicester
Felipe Anderson from W Ham
Hazard and Kante Chelsea
Eriksen and Moura from Spurs

Just because their team is not closer to the top, bar Spurs, doesn't take away how well these players played.

Selecting team of the season from the current top 2 is lazy journalism and geared towards marketing purposes.

Sandy the team of the year isn't literally the best team in the year, that's what the PL table is for. It's the best players in each position making up a team, a dream team thing, I really don't know why it bothers you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This.

It's a vote based on who the PFA members think the best player in each position has been.

If Liverpool win nothing that doesn't suddenly mean all VVD's excellent performances don't count.

I serious wonder how some people function in life.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think Pogba being in the team blows out of the water it being the best players in each position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It really doesn't. This is a vote. It's the aggregate of a number of peoples opinion on who the best player in each position is. Personally I massively disagree with Pogba being there but people voted for him.

It probably says an awful lot about the lack of CM quality in the league. And that Kante has been played out of position and KdB has been injured.

"Lazy journalism and geared towards marketing purpose"?!

It's a PFA vote. Professional football players voted for this.

How in the name of hell is that lazy journalism? And what this has to do with marketing is anyone's guess.

To be honest, I didn't look at the poster otherwise I probably would have just written it off as more nonsense.

Sissoko is a good shout. Can't claim to have watched Spurs much this season but I understand he's been excellent for a couple of months but not consistently across the season - fair comment? Same applies to Pogba as well of course, he just has more goals and assists to his name so probably catches the eye.

Sissoko has genuinely been consistently good from about October onwards. Doesn't warrant being in Team of the Season though.

on the basis of Sissoko being consistently very good and pogba being occasionally a world beater and other times complete crap, Sissoko deserved a shout. One of spurs best players this season if not the and no inclusion for the 3rd place team in the TofY

No inclusion for Hazard either and he's on the shortlist for PFA player of the year. Son is probably equally unlucky but two of Mane, Son and Hazard were going to miss out.

more competition for the front 4 places though. like said, central midfield quality hasnt been the best, but pogba, not for me.

Wouldn’t argue mate, not at all. Just not sure who I would replace him with.

if say spurs were to go on and get knocked out by Ajax would Sandy start his Poch meltdown again this season or wait until spurs fall short again next season

Spurs need to up their game in terms of investing this summer, if they don't they will not be close to city n pool again. New stadium will help but not nearly enough to do a title push without some decent investment.

Ah yeah ha, what i meant was you can be sure city n pool will invest over the summer so levy needs to get the cash out and invest to bolster the team /squad.

Cant see anyone but Pool n City for the title again next year unfortunately.

Verts has had a great season but other than that I don’t see a massive case for any of our players getting in the TOTS.

It always amuses me how these player awards are handed out before the season ends.

Bottom line is if Man City win all three domestic trophies, then the domestic team of the year should be a complete Man City XI, and if Spurs go on to win the CL, then at least half a team of the season would have to be Spurs players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't be Sandy, I don't think we can muster 1 decent, fit fullback between us sadly.

Man City may be in front us mate, but Spurs gave them three good games in 10 days. Liverpool though I am not having, they have had their first season above Spurs in five years, but Spurs are pretty well on par with them. Are you saying players like Milner, Henderson and Wildjenon are really better than Eriksen, Dele and Son?

Sure their is a big points gap, but I think that can sometimes happen in a league. Chelsea were like miles in front of Man City 15 points, and 17 points in front of Liverpool, just a couple of seasons back, indeed Spurs were 10 points in front of Liverpool that season as well. I don`t get ah the points gap is massive it can never be overturned, if often does. Next season could see all change again.

youve named 3 of our best and 3 of their most mediocre players.

games vs each other will always be close if we are on it as we have a good team. consistently over the season performance and result wise city and liverpool have been way ahead for me and the table shows that.

Come on Sandy mate, take your spurs tinted specs off

They are 20 or so points ahead of us

And you conveniently listed their three most workhorse players and compared it to three of our best players

Oh I forget to say Leicester turned around a 46 point deficit over Chelsea when they won the Prem. No two seasons are ever the same.
