Even if they score 2 for you will be enough. Don’t be so defeatist, Spurs have done great to get this far. It’s the CL semifinals embrace it.

Could be worse you could have the small matter of Barcelona standing in your way

Starting Llorente was a huge mistake as was playing a back 3.

From the off Llorente didn’t/couldn’t press means the intensity just wasn’t there and then we froze for 30 mins.

This is why I wanted both Dier & Wanyama starting (obvs Sissoko if he could’ve) to give us a strong CM which is Ajax best but with only Wanyama he was chasing shadows.

All in all a bad night but I could’ve been a lot a worse so I’ll takr the positive a pray we turn up next weds

How will Spurs easily get top four, they are in woeful win, and need a win from two tricky games.

I am also praying mate, but I think this Ajax team will be far too strong on their own patch, they have done the hard work, now they can express themselves in front of their own fans. Spurs are woefully out of form, so cannot see us turning this tie around now.

Because the other contenders aren’t very good and are woefully inconsistent

Some fans have blind hope and will pretty much say there is always a chance. Some fans have hope and I don't knock that for one second.

However, I am so used to the let downs. The performance last night was as bad as it gets, given the enormity. Time and time again, in the BIG games, our performances let us down. I know we had players missing but I expected players like Dele to step up abit more. We have carried him for months now.

No doubt about it Dele would not have been started lst night, if we had more bodies available. He has been awful for months now. His confidence is low.

We have a very good chance next week. Until Sissoko came on we were basically playing without a midfield or striker. With Sissoko and Son next week things will be very different.

Ajax looked very nervous when they were pressed. Their keeper looks like a liability. So gutted with the injuries as imo a fully fit Spurs would have dispatched them last night like the Dortmund game.

As for top 4, can't see us beating Bournemouth. No idea what team we will put out. But expect a win v Everton.

Ajax did not look nervous at all, I don't get where fans get this from. We had one shot on target which wasnt great anyway. In the phase you talk about with Ajax being "nervous" they hit the post and restricted us severely. We were shocking. Woeful. Ajax were comfortable and we are lucky to only be 1 down.

Ajax only had two shots on target and one was the goal. For all there nice football they didn’t exactly carve out many chances themselves.

It’ll be a totally different game on weds

They also hit the post.

I agree, it will be a different game on Wednesday. But with our recent form coming at the crunch end of the season, I just can't see us all of a sudden snapping out of it and winning away from home. Have we even won an away game in Europe this season except Dortmund?

Poch has now come out and admit it that his 5-3-2 didn't work. The formation was partly due to lack of options available to him. But Ajax looked very FRESH and fans have hard time understanding the difference between a side that has rested for 7 days and one that played only 2 days.
Specially in the context of such a high caliber game with a lot at stake.
Even then, the first 30 minutes we looked lopsided and they took advantage of it.
Once Poch ramped up the midield with Sissoko, we had few chances and I strongly believe either Son or Kane there, they would have been taken.

Ajax for all the glowing references, managed a total of 2 shots. We for all our woefulness and lethargic slowness, managed the same?

Ajax do play a good passing game and that shouldn't be a surprise. That's how Ajax always played.

There was some dirty tricks from them like the endless fouling when we mounted attacks.

They are not just a footballing side, they mix it up a bit as well.

They break up play with fouls and waste time and momentum, by moaning to the ref.

I have a feeling that keeper of theirs is a weakness.

Hoping Son will exploit that.

Had they scored the second goal, then it would have been goodbye Vienna!

But they have left the door ajar and I won't write us of.
We play better when we are under the pressure.

We've put 3 past City, and City are terrifyingly better.

COYS.

Spurs have been woeful on the road since January when the luckily won at Fulham, only other away win in any competition was at Dortmund. Not sure why our supporters think Spurs are going to go to Amsterdam and blow away Ajax, especially in the form they are currently in.

No one has said we are going to blow them away though.

All we are saying is we still have a chance especially with our returning goal scorer coming back.

Ffs. It’s only one nil. We have one of our best players to come back. Totally still in it. We’re starting to sound like arsenal fans.

Let’s get behind the team and try and get it over the line.

I also think we will beat Bournemouth on Saturday. I imagine then there will be much more positive articles from you lot .

Yes mate it is only 1-0, but no we don`t have our best players to come back. We have Son, who blows hot and cold, and at the moment is blowing cold, he was awful against West Ham. If we had Kane coming back you may have a point.

posted on 1/5/19

We won't blow them away Sandy. I can't see any side do that, because they can retain the ball very well!

But what I am saying is that when they'll be at their ground, they will be under tremendous pressure and certain of their players don't look as good as couple of them. Including their keeper. I think he's suspect.

With Son up front, helped by Moura, they'll be tested and will see how well they'll cope.

The constant negativity around this side is so tiring. We’re 1-0 down FFS and have a whole 90 minutes to turn it around. Son, our best attacker this season, will be playing and Ajax won’t have a week’s rest like they did last night.

Get a grip and get behind the team. Fans all around me last night were moaning and whinging all game and to be honest it ruined the night.

You’d think we’d be buzzing for a CL Semi final but no, it was Llorente this and Trippier that. The guy next to me moaned every time we passed it to Lloris, it was like he’d never seen a game of football before.

We’ll win the return fixture 2-1 no problems.

We got this.

The amount of injuries we have had this season is mental ; I don't even think we have been able to field our best 11 at any time

With any luck Kane might be fit for next week.

I thought the South Stand was meant to be this wall of noise, not an arena for miserable old men to come and have a bash at the players. No chants of encouragement after about 15 minutes, just moaning and groaning. It was an unpleasant evening. It’s only 1-0 FFS

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I understand the frustration. But what good does all the negativity do us? Is it better to moan or cheer?

We have got a great shot at top four and champions league final.

I would’ve given a kidney to be in this position ten years ago.

I can’t wait for Saturday and next Wednesday. We will secure top four and be in a champions league final.

At least I believe so.
