I genuinely cant remember the last time Arsenal won the league. Must be ten years by now isnt it?

so what you are saying is you were born after 2004
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No I just couldnt remember the year. Was it 2004?

lol....mental age of a 15yr old

Nope I just couldnt remember. Has it really been that long? Im nearly 40 so know enough to the point that much like Utd and Fergie as soon as Wenger has gone Arsenal are returning to the midtable mediocrity to which they belong.

Never been a big club in truth.

Klopp can do no wrong in the eyes of our media. He's won just 3 trophies in over 20 years as a coach, not won anything since 2012, won nothing at Liverpool and has relegated a club in Germany.

Meanwhile Solskjaer has not had 6 months yet, not signed a single player and the media already saying he's not good enough.

Jurgen the trophy dodger.

Why would it not be a successful season?

Liverpool have gone toe-to-toe with one of the best sides in the world all season long and have reached the CL semi final as well. Spurs have reached the CL semi finals against the odds and look secure of a top 4 place for next season, something they needed as a club.

If you're suggesting Liverpool and Spurs have had unsuccessful seasons because they haven't won a trophy then you must be deluded.

Hypothetically speaking, if Man Utd were to win either the FA/League Cup this season, have they had a successful season?

Your own fans have turned on Ole. Some United already want him out and say it's a mistake not to go for Poch.

Poch would have turned you down anyway

“If you're suggesting Liverpool and Spurs have had unsuccessful seasons because they haven't won a trophy then you must be deluded.”

When you apply the winning trophies criteria technically only 4 teams a season could be seen as having successful season. Even less this season of City win the league and FA Cup.

Or it’s a bit more nuanced than that and looking just at whether a team has won a trophy or not is very simplistic.

Right and what has Ole the great ever done in the world of management?

Relegated Cardiff, been in the no-mans-land of Norway a couple of times and now currently following in Jose's footsteps.

Doesn't make a difference if he's not had a transfer window yet, you've got a squad that's worth like £1 billion and players earning wages of £300k upwards. So you're telling me that Ole hasn't done poorly so far with the squad he's got at his disposal?

I think, deep din, everyone who knows their football can see Ole ain't up to it.

Deep down even! Considering the tactics he looks a good bet to replace MON at Forest

I don't think OGS has done that badly so far. Hit the buffers a bit recently, but overall the team are the 3rd best in the PL since he took charge.

Don't think anyone will say the team is the 3rd best in the PL in terms of quality though.

Remains to be seen what the future will bring.

Yeah he needs a proper preseason really as I don't think the players are anywhere near fit enough.

It's all just a bit rudimentary basic tactics imo and he's already been worked out by his peers.

if klopp n poch have another trophyless season will that be reported as a success in the press?
----------------------------------------------------------
Maybe not success but definitely not failure either, you can't say that they have had bad seasons if they dont win anything this year, the points tally that LFC have got is crazy. They are both doing very well, LFC more so.

He had a run of about 8 weeks in which he couldn't have done any worse than his predecessor. Had absolutely no pressure on him whatsoever because he simply had to walk in and collect 2/3 wins and he'd be seen as the savour. When your first 3 games as manager of Man United are Cardiff (A), Huddersfield (H) and Bournemouth (H), you'd expect 9/9.

All of a sudden when the pressure is there to continuously collect results and keep the momentum going, ever since he was appointed permanently, they've struggled. Another reason why I don't think Klopp/Guardiola get enough credit for their success, that they've been able to consistently beat sides throughout the campaign.

Ole now has a chance with Cardiff and Huddersfield to end the season on a positive note and get 2 wins from their remaining 2 games. Still won't be enough for the CL imo, but it should be 6 points. But when your side is playing poor and is under pressure, it's not always going to be a formality.

Fitness is the crux of the matter I think. Too intensive once he took over for players that had been conditioned to retreat into position and conserve energy rather than press the opponent.

Led to muscle injuries to quite a few players. Hence the ridiculous situation in the Liverpool game.

The compromise since has led to a type of Mourinhoball being reintroduced. Sadly.

Agree with that. Really hard to get that fitness in mid season, even harder in Dec/Jan.

Hmm. I remember when we built our stadium, had promising league and champions league campaigns and couldn't spend much money. Apparently none of that mattered because we didn't win trophies..

Wonder why that doesn't apply to certain other teams now
