I started my first proper job in the city 5 years a go today and have recently resigned, starting a new position on the 17th June. Let's hope Poch doesnt do the same

Always memorable my first day of office work being the same day we hired our best manager of my life time

Although I think my first choice at the time may have been Benitez, I recognised what a good job Poch had done at Southampton and was happy enough to see what he could do. Thought he did well in his first season in getting to the final of the League Cup, and there were signs of promise there, aided by the emergence of Kane of course. Only issue I had was with the defence which was shocking at the time, but we fixed that by signing Toby and the improvements in form of our fullbacks.

Couldn't be happier with him now, and hope he continues with us for a while. Don't understand how any Spurs fans can want him gone. It's ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah we let in over 50 goals in his first season but rally he was testing our existing players mostly. Second season Toby was bought to partner Jan, Dier moved to central midfield, a rejuvenated Dembele next to him and our tactics of pressing to win the ball high up the pitch became more effective. We only concede about 34 goals that season, and the next season about 26 (top of my head) - where also added Wanyama who had by far his strongest season in a Spurs shirt. Rose and Walker were also massively improved over that 3 year period, becoming at the time the best fullbacks in the league.

We really need to rebuild to get back to that level - losing Walker, Dembele and possibly soon Toby is bad news and you can’t expect to lose players of that calibre, under-invest and remain as good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know there has been this perception that we've declined quite a bit since that time, and that's probably right regarding our performances, but at the same time we've actually won more games throughout this season than we did in the 16/17 one when we went unbeaten in the league at home and got to 86 points.

We get a few more players in in the obvious positions, and then the natural lift from having our own stadium again, as well as players less injury-prone and more refreshed without a major tournament in the summer, I think we'll be a really strong team.

Still waiting for what the iffy var was?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
vs Citaaay. Yes it went in our favor, but come on now. How many blatant offside goals have been given in the past throughout the game. How we were blessed with this VAR decision is beyond me. My only guess is they are showing how their technology is "boss" and used that particular scenario to their advantage. On the other hand the penalty against us in the first leg with Citaaay was even moreso unjustified. So yeah, karma, whatever. But this was in regards to how people are worshipping the manager and as stated I am not against him, just reminding us what the season was actually like without blinkers on.

Glory glory Hallelujah is where my praise goes towards.

Again, I live Mauricio. But he is still 7/10.

You're saying Pochettino got lucky with VAR decisions which in fact proved to be the correct ones? Haha!!

Moving to a property investment fund firm from the commodities industry. Time for a change and was so many reasons to leave in the end.

Have my first ACA exam in June too.

He's magic, you knoooow

It's funny, I remember discussing his appointment on here and being kind of disappointed we didn't get Laurent Blanc. The general consensus, if I remember right, was that de Boer would be the better choice.

You only have to watch the side, and listen to the players to see the effect this man has had on the club. Charged with keeping us in touch with the top 4 while the new stadium was built he's taken us to a CL final. Incredible.

Yes we went off the boil t the end of the season and were kept in it by other sides being worse, but he's worked miracles with the squad at his disposal. Here's to 5 more years Mauricio, and here's hoping Levy puts his money where his mouth is and backs him with at least one first-choice signing.

Ah okay. I interviewed at DTZ Investors part of Cushman Wakefield before eventually taking this job instead. Will be good. Best of luck with that and ACA.

He's not all that. 7/10. This season, let us not forget, has been one of pure luck and iffy (VAR) decisions. In fact, the 2nd half of the year has been a shambles. We had it nailed on to top the PL and how many games did we lose in a row?

He really doesn't deserve to take all the credit for where we are at today facing the CL Final. We are there most because of certain player's desire and because of luck
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What an absolute load of sheite.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For example, was it Lucas Moura (and the rest of the team, and a certain ellusive character at half time in the dressing room who drove home the reality we need to go all out and try and win against Ajax, probably even saying whatever the manager's tactics they need to now go out the window) who won us the CL Semi Final or was it Mauricio Pochettino?
A great manager wouldn't have had us scrape by this season.
I don't hate the guy. I like him. But really. He ain't all that. The team wins. He who dares. Not this manager's decisions.

Put it this way, if we had dropped out of Top 4 (almost happened) how would we be feeling about Poch then?
Same with the CL. Almost lost against Mancunian City and Ajax. We could all be watching them this weekend. Maybe Poch would have even left by now.

Keeping it real.

Keeping it real

Talking bollox more like, have a word with yourself you mug.

See you guys should have allowed Liverpool fans on, we couldn't have been much worse than this.

Ah ok mate. I'm working at part of the alpha capital group near euston so better commute as well. Seems a great bunch with a great culture compared to the sh11t I've been used to.

Luckily I'm exempt from a third of the course so that's something. Cheers Boss

I would give him a 9/10 for his first five years here. I think he has done a tremendous job considering our limited resources during that time. He's not only brought us CL but we are now incredibly in the final!

The only reason he doesn't have a 10/10 is because of trophies. I think we've had it in us to win a domestic trophy even if it's the league cup but i appreciate the difficulties in club priorities.

Hopefully we win on Saturday and what an amazing tenure that would be for him at the club. I think he has improved tactically as well during the period and may it continue.

Boss,
Unfortunately winning trophies is the major way that managers are judged, eg: Fergie, Wenger, so 9/10 is somewhat overly generous. The same goes for Klopp. One of them will rid themselves of this stigma in the CL Final!

There are hundreds of teams in football. Are all those other managers a failure because Pep spend £500m and won the Premier League?

I don't think it's generous at all considering the context and environment he's working in. Those are things which need to be taken into account.
