Anyway, let's cheer up. We have had far more good times than many other clubs ever will and we will get back to the top again soon enough.
----------
Not while Woodward is involved we won't
Yeah there are obviously other issues
But that doesnt mean Woodward isn't an issue and therefore should be replaced
SAF and Gill left us in the shiite.
.......................
Only in that they left Ed in charge of making football decisions.
Leaving us as champions is a bit of a stretch to leaving us in the $hite.
Lack of proven top managers.
You shouldn't have given mega contracts to rookies like Jose and LVG.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
LVG had a 3 year deal.
There have been other issues but Woodward seems to be the main one, LvG has confirmed that Ed was more interested in the commercial aspect of the team and, in his opinion, knows nothing about football.
Once the commercial side is the dominant influence, you stop buying players who can fit your system and be gelled into a team and you end up with what we got, a collection of individuals in this weird Frankenstein team who don't suit each other or a particular style of play.
One of our scouts (ex-scout now?) said that they would be scouting young players but Ed wasn't interested and was more concerned with "stars", which again, has a massive influence on player recruitment and the direction of the team.
There are other problems but Woodward is the main one, take care of the main problem and you can sort the rest out in due course, some of them may even sort themselves out once/if he is removed from his post.

Thought he was being Sarcastic, hence me ignoring it.
You can blame it on whatever you like but we went from having the greatest manager in football history to not
I'd love to see LVG, Jose, Moyes or whoever win a league title with some of the team's Fergie did it with
Van Gaal: “When I was accepting the job, we never spoke about the system Man Utd played with, or about a philosophy. Surprise! It was different with other clubs. I’ve always spoken about that.”
Ed throws blank cheques around without any planning or thought about a consistent philosophy in the present or the future.
Thought he was being Sarcastic, hence me ignoring it.

You replied to it you knucklehead.
The failure on Woodward's part is quite simple but greatly significant: a failure to put in place a footballing department that is completely independent from the commercial department in an operational sense and whose responsibilities are purely footballing: scouting, academy, player recruitment, contracts, managerial appointments, style of play & ethos.
We had all of that taken more or less care of through the sheer enormity of SAF & Gill. Once they left, we had to modernise. I can sympathise with Woodward & co not putting this in place straight away - I think Moyes' appointment was a genuine attempt to uphold a tradition that Fergie had represented and been successful with.
But 6/7 years on and three additional managerial appointments later and it's still not been rectified? No excuses at this point.

Who said anything about a different manager?
The point is clearly that the club (which includes Ed) never had a plan. Which means the signings didn’t match the philosophy of each manager as confirmed by LVG.
It’s very simple.

Well weve gone full circle and ended up with one of fergie's old boys and phelan
In hindsight we probably should have gone with that when the great man retired. It certainly couldn't have gone any worse than Moyes did.

The plan was to have Moyes as manager but it didn't work so I'm glad they abandoned that plan.
The next plan was to get LVG because he was the best available.
When that went sour the plan was for.Jose to win stuff.
Plans change. Who are all these identilit managers people think exist to fit in with clubs plans
