My issues is the "Hes good on a free" attitude

I dont want him purely because he's free

If he's immense and on a free then thats a bonus

If its just because we needed a body in a position and this one was free so we went for him, that's a silly approach and one of rhw ways we've ended up with such tosh

Picking up players because they were decently priced rather than the one we needed and/or wanted

I take your point, but I think it's a great signing because it's an area we could do with strengthening our options, but it's not a high priority. So bringing him in for no fee gives us a really decent option, but keeps the money available for more important areas like CB.
