All this flip floping, surely they had targets, may be not, a new name appears every few days, this a cheaper option
he's been linked for a while, was also supposed to be one of the more expensive ones and him. people just got all excited and thought we were about to buy two 40m CBs

Same old Levy. 24th July and not a whisper of a new centre half. Proposed interest in REAL talent in VDV in Tapsoba has gone cold, and typically we're now showing interest in a Fulham defender who didn't get any real plaudits last year. In fact his displays largely went unnoticed. Most of the defensive praise was given to Tim Ream so to call this potential buy underwhelming is an understatement. It is, though, classic Spurs.
Captain gone. Vice Captain and all time top scorer about to go. Most expensive tickets in the league. No European football to speak of. Clubs like Villa beginning to show more ambition than us. It's the same old script.
I know many of you are tired of my irritating downer posts but not many can accuse me of being wrong. The general optimists response is to say "the window is still open" but honestly, can you really see us doing the kind of business we need to get back up to where we belong?
I've decided Billy was right all along. Until we get new owners, we won't be successful. It's really that simple.

Singapore national stadium has a roof
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So instead of the water being a problem it’s going to be the humidity under the roof great cheers Chris
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good. Pre season shouldn't be a walk in the park.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shouldn’t kill them either ( yes I’m joking )
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Humidity in Singapore is 95%, I was stationed there in the early 70’s. We played most of our matches under floodlights and I would lose at least 6-7lbs fluids. Fortunately a few pints of Tiger soon rehydrated me🤣
fridge would love to get your thoughts on levy sometime

You can also cry like Billy all the time about ENIC or just accept they are here to stay until they want to sell.
Until then it is really pointless crying about Levy and ENIC all the time. But if you get your kicks that way then carry on.
One thing everyone forgets is that we need to get rid of players before bringing in others.
Plus clubs know we desperately need good CB’s and raise their prices accordingly. Look at Ashley Phillips of Blackburn, they originally were looking to get between £3-4m for him, they suddenly had an epiphany moment and said they wanted £9.5m up front plus a stream of add on’s and a 17.5 sell on clause if we sold him.

Where was that reported? Nice to know
I can only hope we’re looking at Tosin as Barcelona want too much for Lenglet and we still plan to sign another top CB

But it's also pointless showing any level of optimism for a regime you know isn't showing any ambition. What are we cheering for? If our ceiling is 4th place, at which point financial ambition is slowed down on the basis we've hit our target, then what are we aiming for? I loved our time under Poch but it was during his tenure we finally learned that the club didn't want to go again to hit the promised land. It exposed our owners for who they truly are. Up until that point, maybe we were naive but I don't think their motives had come into question. for the first time, we had a real chance and backed out. So I'm slowly losing any real desire for us to get back near the summit because I know full well that if we do, those same owners will show the same lack of ambition and the 'nearly' tag will show it's ugly face again.
I'd take an oil state now and go with it. Even those supportive of LGBTQ rights like Jordan Henderson are jumping ship to Saudi Arabia so there's less and less scope for holding moral resistance against it. I'm hoping that those hoping to take over United get bored and bid for us because until they do, we'll be in the same boat in the same little pond squabbling over payment terms for a 3m player from the Championship.
Saudi have bid £259 million for Mbappe, guess we’re out of the race now

Nobody forgets gg it's just that we know they can't move these players because they have no resale value, so this will be going on for the next 2 or 3 windows with no new players coming in, if your scenario is correct

Yes but we are in this position because we've ultimately cut costs and bought terrible players. We could have got Fernandes and chose either Lo Celso or Ndombele because they were cheaper. Now we need them off our books. We wanted Dias, Bastoni, Bremer, Gvardiol and so many other top centre halves and ended up with Sanchez, Rodon and Lenglet. The reason we have so much dead wood is because we cut costs in the first place. Buy cheap, buy twice.
What we should be doing is ripping up contracts. Paying off players we no longer want to make space for new ones but we're not because these are club assets and Levy doesn't want to give up on any fees they might bring in. That's why we're having trouble shifting them and that's why clubs are holding us to ransom for talent. It's hardly a surprise. The only thing you can do is recruit better. No more buying cheap. Buy players you know wholeheartedly will work out otherwise this cycle of signing players we can't get rid of will continue. If we buy a VDV or a Tapsoba, the chances are it will work out. If we buy Tosin or Lenglet, the same issue will rear its head again. More players we want to shift on long contracts.
Unfair to put Tosin in the same bracket as Lenglet.
Btw both VDV and Tapsoba have been playing in a back three for their clubs whilst Tosin is the only one to have played on a back 4 with prem experience...
Tosin is good.
25, homegrown, fits the system, one of the best CB in the championship when Fulham came up, one year left on his deal.
The idea that signing him as a third choice would be some travesty is ridiculous.
Fulham mates of mine say Tosin isn't especially good, is the thing. Not bad, just nothing special. Wasn't even first choice for Fulham for much of the season.
Better backup than the current rabble for sure, but definitely can't be the only CB Spurs get this summer
