#BHAFC are lining up Lille midfielder Carlos Baleba to replace #CFC bound Moises Caicedo.

Lille value Baleba at around £20m.

- talkSPORT sources understand

Hijack this one too for a PEH replacement

Say we do sell PEH.

What type of midfield player Ange will be looking for?

I think Levy will be all over Adams from Leeds due to his release clause. I think he would also fit Ange's profile of a player due to him being Captain America.

On another note expect competition from Liverpool as well. They have £110m buring a hole and love screw1ng us over like Chelsea have with them.

No CB links either lately.

Not too worried about Brighton long term. They'll run into the Leicester situation soon enough unless they can somehow increase revenues massively. Selling clubs (if they're not already) will start hiking their prices

I'm not so sure they will follow Leicester's path. Paul Barber follows the same philosophy as Levy but has taken it to another level on a smaller scale club. Tony Bloom lets him get on with it.

Leicester's owner is more hands on and is a Daddy's boy, who inherited the club off his old man.

Fair. They're not the same. But even the best don't get all their transfers right. They will have expensive flops before long. Success brings higher transfer fees, higher wages. If you don't pay them you lose your best players. How long before it starts coming undone we'll see I guess.

posted on 14/8/23

Also requires a bigger squad, like what Leicester had to do when they got into Europe. Only takes a few bad signings on decent wages you can't shift, and without the revenues to make up for it you're struggling. Whatever. It's fun to see them there. I've got no hate

caicedo and Lavia going to Chelsea instead of Liverpool

should try and give them hobby

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The money these guys are going for is ridiculous especially when compared to the price we got Maddison for

He could be the signing of the season when looking at these mental prices
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't really like comparing the price of one player to another when there is a load of different factors to consider.

However Chelsea signing those two for that money is absolutely mad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy may not like this reality but £40m in today's market for proven PL players is starting to look like a very cheap valuation. We will reach a point if we haven't already where £70m is the standard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Was Maddison signed pre-Saudi spending?

Brighton are more like Southampton of 2013 - 2017ish. They were punching well above their weight for a while with several very good league finishes (7th twice and 8th I think) and seemed to have a knack of finding players who did the business for them and then selling them for high fees and seamlessly replacing them - van Dijk, Mane, Wanyama, Scheiderlin, Lallana, Shaw, Lovren, Clyne, Pelle, Tadic, Chambers. Likewise they also unearthed Poch then replaced him with Koeman.

But there’s only so long you can keep doing that before it catches up with you. The fees Brighton are getting might allow them to sustain it further, but the principle is the same - the model will get you so far but player sales aren’t guaranteed revenue, it’s the growth of the infrastructure and other revenues of the club that will allow them to step up a level long term.

Top at Leicester has made a pigs ear of things since his dad died, not helped by the pandemic wrecking King Powers main source of income (tourism).

Yes good one, Southampton is probably a better comparison

Anyone watching Man U v Wolves tonight? Cunha for Wolves is bossing the midfield like a prime Dembele. Has he always been decent? If he plays like this all year, he’s got to be a target.

Wolves have dominated the game and should be 4 or 5 - 1 up, but they have no clinical finisher, somehow they are losing

Courtesy of the officials who have denied Wolves a clear penalty kick, standard fare at Old Toilet when Penited are involved

Its different though, built with a lot more structure.

I'd say closer to a Red Bull model than anything.

He’s actually their no 9. Would probably be better suited to midfield.

Game week 1 and Penited already have 2 more points than they deserve courtesy of the officials, and some mugs think there is no red shirt bias

If utd play like that next week, we will smash them

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’ll probably do a Wolves - not be able to score despite lots of pressure, then get stitched up by the officials.

Closer to their model maybe, but with much less revenue to rely on. Though I guess Caicedo will close the gap there that needs to keep happening and will get harder. Fair enough to them if it does but it doesn't seem sustainable

posted on 14/8/23

I’d imagine the revenue is closer than you think, such is the PL cash cow

Na I had a look. RB is almost double Brighton in the last figures
