I would argue that the WHOLE point of football is silverware. Clubs like ours who seem allergic to trophies have fans that come back year after year in the HOPE that this is THE year. It’s like a drug. If there was no silverware to play for and no hope of winning anything then why on Earth would we come back year after year? Why would fans go to open top busses. Why would finals attract the biggest television audiences and command the largest sponsorship fees? It’s because of the chance to see glory. To see a team live out your dreams.

The difference for spurs fans is we pay the prices of a premium club and don’t often get a premium product delivered on the pitch.

Someone who new about winning once said ‘the game is about the glory’

Somewhere spurs have lost their way on that front.

If the whole point of football is silverware, why are there 10s of millions of fans who support clubs who never win trophies and in reality have no chance to ever do so.

Even within the PL, is it may be 6 or 7 clubs who have a more than outside chance of a trophy?

For me, football is about striving to achieve success, and the journey that takes you on - at every level - Spurs, my local team, my kids team, the veterans team i play with.

I want to see us give all we have in chasing the goal of achieving success, while acknowledging that others have a lot more than us in this pursuit.

In giving all we have, this means we make the best use of our resources, we appoint the best people we can, we make right decisions and as few mistakes as possible.

But the important point is that even then, that may not be good enough for us to win, because we are not alone in seeking this goal and we are not the biggest in the race.

I will not batter our club and ownership if we fail to win stuff. I will be critical where we have failed to give it our all in trying to win stuff. That has been the case in the past. At times there have been mitigating circumstances, but at other times the ownership have held us back and made some shiiiit decisions / big mistakes

Silverware is the dream of every fan, so I suppose in this respect it is a massive part of football and supporting a club. But for me achieving it is not the thing that my support hinges on. I feel I have some perspective as to where we are (and have always been) in the food chain. We should be doing a lot better in terms of competing and winning trophies over the last 30+ years, this period has been unacceptably bad.

But every season is a fresh start when I expect all at THFC to be doing all they can to bring us success....starting with the management team in getting the coach the best players we can afford to move us closer to our goal. Still work to do in this respect this summer, but the last 12 months have been pretty positive in this respect, so fingers crossed we make some good decisions and give Ange what he needs
