Rodon's 22 and already a regular at CB for Wales, and is widely recognised as one of the best in the Championship. He's not a 'Doherty' signing. He's not on Vert's level yet, but he wasn't world class at 22 either.

I get what you're saying - we need a first team upgrade - but with the international window closed this was the best we could do. If he steps up, brilliant. If he turns out a bit average we've upgraded on Foyth with a homegrown player anyway, and we go again in Jan.

I really miss those days when we had Walker on one side and Rose on the other and Vertonghen and Alderweireld in the middle.......and Kane up front being a one season wonder.......best squad we've had in quite a while!

Nothing stays the same eh Ted. I still miss the days of Bale charging down the wing..

This squad is stronger than any squad poch had. First 11 maybe about the same strength though

Yeah definitely stronger 1-22. Any side is weaker without Dembele tho.

We will still be looking at a more commanding high profile CB in coming windows. May be Tobys last season this and if Dier or Sanchez do not have good seasons we should listen to offers for either. Tanganga needs to stop being injured

Harsh but fair.

Even if things go pear shaped with Jose in a year or two's time, we will have a fantastic squad for the next manager to work with.

Whatever manager is in charge would be under pressure to win something this season and get CL football again, with Jose it has to happen and I think it will this season. Would be nice to be able to sustain it but can worry about that later, hard not to love how we are shaped up atm though and looking good on the pitch the last handful of games for sure, long may it continue.

Is it that short term? Only Bale really but could have couple good years left.
Lots of promising long term elements and over next years the squad can have further necessary surgery.
Definately enthusiasm will be sucked from everyone without a cup again, could be as soon as tomorrow evening

Need to win now, would have been nice to have a few of these 2 seasons ago, wouldn't have been in so much trouble, fresh players certainly improve the mood in the team but have to be done consistently

Levy obviously is in awe of Jose over any other manager he's had at the club so was more inclined to go out there and get the business done. Especially if he's knocking saying he needs players to get a trophy and top 4 back. He's not stupid either and knows this will be 3 seasons tops with him as manager.
