Transfer Expectations...

We should be looking to keep all our best players and add real quality to them.

The only players we should consider leaving are Janssen, Llorente, Trippier, Aurier, Onomah, CCV and Wanyama.

Bring in some young players with potential (Sessegnon x2, Clarke) for eg. and some more established players to strengthen and compete with our squad, (Ndombele, Lo Celso, RB, Werner, Bale etc) for eg.

Also tie down key players to longer term deals

I'd rather go for Bournemouth's Brooks who is young and very promising and HAS proved himself at this level -

Judging by the valuation the op is putting out there, you’d want brooks for £22.50 & a bag of pickled onion monster munch.

If Spurs can ask £130m for Eriksen, Bournemouth can ask for £120m for Brooks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Comparing Eriksen with Brooks?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn’t compare the players ability I compared the clubs being able to ask what they want for a player. They can ask what they want, doesn’t mean someone will pay it.

Nobody is going to spend £80m - £120m on Eriksen with 12 months on his deal.

There are no PL clubs in the market for Eriksen unless United sell all their midfielders. Real may have wanted him but as they got a much superior midfielder in Hazard for less than you think Eriksen is worth they won't want him now.

Good player and maybe £70m if he wasn't in the last year of his contract. The money has gone crazy but someone has to want him, likewise Dier.

Yeah ok

But you said it: you can put a price on a player, but whether you'll get that is debatable. Specially if it takes the proverbial biscuit!

If Eriksen is the player you want then any club would pay £70m regardless of his contract. When you have to pay +£50m for the likes of Sigurdson, Fred, Keita then Eriksen is easily worth that and in the current market way more. Fact is for a player of his quality its a low price and like Hazard if they had 2 or 3 years left then the fee would be +£100m. Hazard has add-ons up to £150m.

You describe Eriksen as a "good play" but he assists & scores at a better rate than David Silva who is recognised as being more than a good player.

Lets also remember we are also dealing with Levy here. He's extracted top money for some real dross over the years and always gets big sums for the quality that leaves.

I thought I saw something from one of the Spurs players saying that Eriksen had said goodbye. Might be a negotiating ploy of course, this will be his last 'big' contract I guess.

He may score more than David Silva but I don't think anyone would put him in the same class. Silva tends to make the pass before the assist if that makes sense. The assists come from the wing mainly in the way City play. Spurs play in a different way.

I am not saying he not an excellent player, but most people would put Silva as one of the best to ever play in the PL and Eriksen, while a great player, is not that good.
