I think he’s available for sale. At a £30-40m fee.
Some Chelsea fans think he’d be our best defender if he returns whilst others think he isn’t good enough on the ball (playing out from the back) to play for us.
According to sources I've read no decision will be made until a new manager is appointed and whether he wants him in the squad.
In your favour, Central defenders are one thing we're pretty well stocked for; Luiz, has extended his contract, Rudiger will, I imagine be the fulcrum the center of defence is based on, then there is Christensen, Ampadu, Tomori, Clarke-Salter, Reece James can even play there, plus a few other outside and lesser known candidates.
So all depends on who the new manager, whoever he maybe, likes the look of I suppose.
What is certain, we can't accommodate all those at CB!
Kurt Happy Zouma ........ makes me smile every time
As an Everton fan you can clear this up: did Zouma get any better on the ball and at passing while on loan with you?

A good question, well asked Randy!
Another thought that has occurred to me, is that, if we were to sell him, I don't imagine it would be in the to immediate future, as I'd assume any new manager would want to see at first hand the players he has at his disposal before making decisions over selling or loaning players!
He'll feature in our preseason I assume and then Lamps+Morris will make a decision on him during that period.
Personally I didn't think he was anywhere near good enough on the ball or had good enough passing ability when he played for us.
In previous eras that would have been fine but in the modern era CB's need to be at least decent on the ball.
So if Everton want him for £30-£40 million then by all means have him
A bit of an assumption that Frank is going to be our next manager there Superb!
Don't think there's many noises being made about him atm, but going off how stacked we are in defense + a general pattern when it comes to players who've followed his path with us, I'd imagine a bid in the region of 30-35mil would be enough to convince us to sell.
I like him myself. Not as good on the ball as we'd ideally like but that was mainly an issue regarding his future with Sarri in charge. Defenders with his combination of size and pace are rare (fortunately we have another one in Rudiger), if I was Lampard I'd try to accommodate him somehow. A back 4 with Rudiger/Zouma covering one aspect of the CB partnership with Luiz/Christensen and eventually Ampadu covering the other is quite tasty IMO.
If I had to guess, I’d say he’ll stay at Chelsea for a year - possibly as 4th choice centre back. We could sell him this Summer, but we couldn’t use the money to buy a replacement until next year anyway, so there hardly seems a benefit in letting him go right now. Might as well let Tomori get another year of first team football under his belt before bring him back next year.
Having said that - it’s not like us to make sensible decisions, so who knows.

Compared to when he was on loan at Stoke yes and if I am honest I didn't see to much of him from his Chelsea days. He isn't to bad on the ball and at times his long diagonal passing seemed better than short play. Saying that he is still quite young and is proper fast and strong. I feel he will probably improve more with us than back at Chelsea. That's isn't a slight at coaching standards more to do with potential game time.

Agree. For his own career he'd be better off at Everton where he'll be first choice and play every game. He won't play anywhere near as much here unless he can establish himself as first choice, seems unlikely.
It's difficult to second guess the club though. It may be decided that we have to keep Zouma here for a year just in case, while we can't buy new players.
He’s a better defender than any of our other CBs IMO, doesn’t have to be Pirlo on the ball as long as he’s serviceable. He can be paired with a CB that covers that side of the game.

I'd say that was debatable Randy, they all have their different attributes.
At the end of the day, it will all come down to how the new manager views the candidates at their disposal.and the type of football they want to play.
If they're just after a mobile no nonsense defender, he may well be in with a shout.
He is incredible in the air - there’s no doubt about that. And he’s quick, so trying to beat him one on one is very difficult. He’s an excellent “stopper”. But in the modern game where everyone needs to be able to play football, I’m not sure he’ll get much game time at Chelsea. I agree that his career would improve much more at Everton - but that’s not really our problem is it.
And yes, NPE - you may be right that a year on the bench might reduce his value next Summer. But I’d argue that in a year when we can’t use his transfer fee for a year anyway, his value next season should not be our primary motivation. That’s part of the cost of not being able to buy players this Summer.
Although we can't spend money this season J2, one of the things to be taken into consideration is the fact that as I've already mentioned Central Defence is one area we're not struggling with personal for.
Other positions are of greater cause for concern for us such as LB, lack of capable personnel in Central midfield, most of all a striker. Add to that, that next summer Willian and Pedro, I would imagine will be looked on as expendable.
If we can get a good fee for Zouma, it may be felt that by selling him along with a lot of the other deadwood hanging around being sold, added to the Hazard money and this years transfer budget being added to next years transfer budget, we could go into next summers transfer window with upwards of £300m to improve the squad!
All food for thought!
BlueJ2
His lack of skill with the ball won't be terminal to his career (with us or not). Pace can make up for a lot in the modern game, in defenders more than anyone because of the team pressing phenomenon, and he's got that.
I hope we find a place for him. Two years ago I saw him & Christensen as being our future CB combination for the 10-15 years and not a whole lot has changed since, both still give me the impression they'd work very well together.

I wasn't implying that Zouma was part of the deadwood by the way!
He's a Mourinho type defender - strong, quick and no nonsense. He was never technically good enough for Sarri. Just depends. Defensively better than Luiz but in every other aspect of the game he's inferior.
If he isn’t wanted by the next Chelsea but as, why wouldn’t we push for a nice lower cost deal. His performances with us got him back in the France squad.

Because Marina Granovskaia would tell you to Foxtrot Oscar.
You were lucky enough to have him for a season and now you want to get him on the cheap - is that how far Everton have dropped as a club?
