Interesting. I can understand why you'd omit Stokes but I'm surprised Buttler wasn't included. Archer is the other notable absentee but perhaps England are looking after him.
Burns
Roy
Denley
Root
Bairstow (wk)
Moeen
Curran
Woakes
Broad
Anderson
Leach
Gregory and Stone on standby?
Archer injured so hopefully he'll be fit for the first test.
Is Morgan no playing and if no then who he supports when game starts?

Does it? All 10 teams who played in the world cup have test status so one team was always going to miss out.

There were 10 teams in WC, Afghans qualified at expense of Ireland.
I still don't get your point. I actually forgot that Zimbabwe also have test status so at least 2 teams were always going to miss out on the world cup. Why does mean there is disparity between the two formats? It's not like Afghanistan are an associate much lower than Ireland in tests is it?

I meant Ireland lost in qualifiers inspite of the fact they are test nation, losing out to associates in qualifiers showing there is considerable difference between 2 formats.
Regarding Zimbabwe, I believe test status have been taken away from them owing to appalling performance after Mugabe takeover.
No Zimbabwe still play test cricket.. Just very few if any.
if theres any rain around for the England/Ireland game. England need to bowl first. Otherwise with it only been a 4 day game. we wont get a result. if we lose time.

Yes, Ireland lost out to Afghanistan who conversely are also a test playing nation and both have been test playing nations for the same amount of time as their status was granted at the same time.
The ICC recently suspended Zimbabwe:

England have now named the XI for the Test:
Joe Root (c), Moeen Ali, Rory Burns, Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Joe Denly, Jack Leach, Jason Roy, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes.
Anderson is injured.
Wonder what the batting line up will be. Moeen should bat higher than Curran but right now I'd put Curran in at 6 if he's likely to be replaced by Stokes.
Burns
Roy
Denly
Root
Bairstow
Curran
Moeen
Woakes
Broad
Leach
Stone
to many bowling options there.. Pointless having so many. You may as well have chosen another front line batter.
I suppose 4 specialist batsmen isn't much, though there are several others who can bat.
As for bowlers there are plenty, though Stone's fitness record is dodgy - though I certainly hope he's OK.
England have won the toss and will bat first.
Roy hahaha is this good play?
Roy should stick to white ball cricket
Denly is not good enough to bat at number 3.
Good preparation for the Ashes...
Luckily Aus vs Aus A is just as bad, both making 100 odd all out.
ah the top order collapsing? thats a first
42-4 and chose to bat 1st vs Ireland, quite embarrassing that.
