Bruno Fernandes

He plays as a ten. I wouldn't say he's a 9. He can play deeper but he's best as a ten. If Dybala comes in, SMS might be a better signing than him in such a scenario.

So instead of admitting my point was correct, Messi and Ronaldo get brought into the conversation. And they’re forwards as well. You’d make a good politician Dunk.

Even with simple, obvious passes Pogba takes too long to release it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, I do wonder what games some of our fans watch sometimes. Certainly not ours.

arab, youre the most boring, negative cant on here... you really should follow a different hobby.... maybe knitting or something like that

It’s a bit of both with Pogba.

There are times when he does time his pass correctly though, see the assist for Mata vs Kristiansund for example.

Its another inconsistency in his game.

someone didn’t lick my boots and accept my opinion so I’ll end up making personal insults at them instead. Hilarious.

exactly, you have to take the flaws with a player like pogba because he is capable of things like that pass to mata... but arab just concentrates on the negativity... bet he's a right fun person to have at a party

I thought he was a B2B midfielder who plays on the right side of a midfield 3?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is not a box-to-box player.

He is a proper number eight - an attacking midfielder - who occasionally goes roaming for the ball *when Sporting are in possession* but who is in the side to create and score. He’s not a defensive player.

He’s Pogba, but on the right side.

You play Pogba and Fernandes in the same side if you can dominate possession, and you have incredibly hardworking fullbacks, a super mobile world-class DM, and two world-class centrebacks.

Otherwise, as the OP has stated correctly, you will be on the end of serious raaaaapings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
works for city wit Fernandinho in front of De Bruyne and city, and i'd hardly call an aging Kompany, Otamendi or stones world class Cb's... and i havent seen city take too many raaaaaapings
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are incredibly hardworking side, with a world class DM and centrebacks comfortably better than ours.

They are well-drilled, having played the same way for three seasons now, and De Bruyne and Silva work twice as hard as Pogba does.

Pogba’s ball retention is an issue, but it’s fair to highlight the lack of passing options in contributing to him losing the ball.

Hard to compare with City. Fernandinho is much better than our dm’s. Silva and De Bruyne are hard working an intelligent footballers. But most importantly, Pep is the best in the business coaching the press and positional organisation.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, but even on occasions when the forwards make the correct runs Pogba still takes an age trying to release the ball to them and then he ends up slipping over or something and loses the ball. It’s extremely frustrating.

From what I have seen of City, Pep doesn't go with De Bruyne and Silva in CM in the big games, he tends to opt for Gundogan. Presumably to make them a bit more aware defensively.

I should clarify my original point above by saying that if we were to play the diamond each and every week, I wouldn’t have any problem with Fernandes coming in and playing with Pogba.

But you’d need him as one of the three out-and-out forwards.

Pogba and Fernandes in a midfield three isn’t going to work with the other players currently at Ole’s disposal. It’s one or the other.

thats the problem Arab, its no good having players who might make runs or become available every now and again.

Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo all made runs, Lukaku and martial make them when they want to, sometimes its hard for a midfielder to pick those runs out when they done know if the are going to be coming or not.

players like scholes and carrick never had that issue because they ALWAYS had players around making those runs, they knew automatically they would be coming... pogba doesnt have that luxury and sometimes buy the time the run is spotted, its too late

Footballers are adaptable, so it will depend on how well they are coached and how well they take instruction if the midfield three contains Pogba and Bruno. If we sign him and that’s the plan, you’d presume the coaching staff would have seen enough to think they could work together. Hard to say right now.

People get fixated on starting 11’s as well. There will be games where they won’t be available, or where one will be shifted for the needs of the team. Most teams do this.

If we score goals and play good football I’m not too fussed if it’s not functioning as a complete midfield. I don’t think that’s something that can be achieved with Pogba in midfield either way, due to his flaws. Might as well make it fun to watch.

If this is the case (never seen Fernandes play) then sadly he isn't a priority signing, unless Pogba is sold.

I haven't seen him play as many as some Portugese league viewers on here admittedly, but I've never seen him taking up the number 9 role.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ji will know. He’s probably got a season ticket for Lisbon it’s what he does when he likes a player. Not a YouTube fella at all..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would make some sense if I hadn't lived in Portugal for 11 years and have a place out there where I stay 6-8 weeks a year. High five for trying though.

I know that Ji is aching inside to point out that Fernandes’ current club is actually Sporting CP (or Sporting Clube de Portugal), not “Lisbon”

It is never referred to as, or even the club’s proper title supplemented with, “Lisbon” in Portugal. It’d be akin to referring to Chelsea as “London” or “Chelsea London”.

Which only a Yank would do, obviously.

Do you want to sound like a Yank, Baz? Do you? Because that’s what you sound like. A Yank.

good one, the fresh material keeps us on our toes.

I'm sure you don't stalk me or anything, so you probably haven't noticed that I very rarely comment on foreign signings unless they are from Portugal, where I will have had a good chance of having seen them, or if they are a team that is very easy to catch the odd game of (Real, Barca, PSG, Juve, Bayern).

High five for trying a second time though!
